Leaving senior center funds

Leftover 2003 Community Development Block Grant funds for the planning and the Orion Senior Center will be left alone, as the Orion Township Board voted July 19 not to reprogram the funds to help pay for an accessible path in Friendship Park.
The board held a public hearing prior to voting to keep the 2003 CDBG funds in question in the current accounts for planning and the senior center. The request for reprogramming was to take $23,155 from the senior center account, to be used for the $66,000 park project at Clarkston and Baldwin Roads.
The board asked senior center director Marylou Enneking to come to the board at the next meeting on Aug. 16, with a plan for how to spend the CDBG money left in the account, which could be recaptured by the end of the year.
The board also asked the CDBG committee to meet and review the senior center director’s plan for using the unused 2003 money.
