Curves helps fight breast cancer

For a third year, Curves of Oxford is joining the fight against breast cancer, one of the leading causes of death in women.
Owner Suzanne Ardelan joined the fight when member Robin Tailford, a survivor of breast cancer asked her to sponsor a team to walk five miles on Belle Isle in 2002. Curves collected close to $1500 for the event.
Since then Curves has participated every year in the Belle Isle 5 Mile Walk, and last year had 20 members walk and raised more than $2,000.
In an effort to raise more money this year, Tailford’s mom Pat McIntyre hand made the pictured rag quilt for Curves to raffle. The colors are in pink and blue with angels and flowers. All monies collected will go directly to the American Cancer Society.
How can you get involved? Drop by Curves, located at 21 N. Washington (M-24), and purchase a raffle ticket by Oct. 15. Those intereseted can join the Curves team and walk at Belle Isle on Oct. 16 ? five miles is easy! Anyone can sponsor a walker by donating to their efforts.
