With a perfect winning score of 25, the Oxford Freshman Volleyball team won their opening league match on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
In three out of three games, the Freshman Ladycats defeated Linden 25-12, 25-8, and 25-14 in the match.
Freshman Melissa LaBarge led the team in serving points 13 total points, while freshmen Kelsey Oliver and Alex Johnson shared a combined, three game total, of 11 kill points to help the Ladycats spike the Flint Metro League season opener with a 1-0 record.
Continuing their winning streak, the team went on to defeat Lapeer West in three straight games on Monday, January 11. Again with a perfect set of 25 points each game, scores were 25-16, 25-20, and 25-15.
The grand slam win gives the freshman team a 13-2-3 overall score and 2-0 in the Flint Metro League.
Oliver led at the net with ten kills and Morgan Stefanski led the serves earning the team eleven points with three aces.
