Over the past four years, the Oxford Pointe OB/GYN has been meeting the needs of women. Patients have been coming from far away to see the quality physicians of Oxford Pointe because they know they will receive excellent care.
Now, the staff of Oxford Pointe OB/GYN would like to introduce the newest member of their impressive staff: Dr. Jacqueline R. Compton, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Compton joined the Oxford team in September of 2002 as a gynecologist. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and is affiliated with Crittenton and St. Joseph Mercy hospitals.
In her practice, Dr. Compton focuses upon preventive medicine.
‘We need to do everything we can to help prevent disease and do whatever we can to be healthy,? she said. ‘My goal is to help women find what’s right for them to reach that point.?
In the medical world, Dr. Compton is unique – she worked for 13 years as a nurse.
‘I have always loved working with women and delivering babies,? added Compton.
After working for several years as a nurse, Dr. Compton decided to begin her undergraduate degree in the fall of 1974. In 1977, she graduated from Oakland University cum laude.
Dr. Compton entered medical school at the age of 33, a rarity among medical students.
In 1981, Dr. Compton graduated from Wayne State University’s School of Medicine and went on to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Oakland for her residency.
After her residency, Dr. Compton decided to continue her relationship with St. Joseph and joined the medical staff.
Dr. Compton credits all of her success to her husband Jerry, a lecturer in chemistry and laboratory manager at Oakland University.
‘I had a husband who was very supportive,? she stated. ‘He took over running the house so I could go back to school and do this.?
This past year Dr. Compton decided to move to the Oxford area and begin an independent practice.
‘I decided I had done obstetrics long enough and decided that this was the right time to make the transition to gynecology only,? she said.
At Oxford Pointe OB/GYN Dr. Compton is focusing entirely on gynecology. She is looking forward to dealing specifically with the gynecological needs of women and sees many patients from teens to menopause and hormonal issues.
Also, she will readily refer obstetricians to patients in need of obstetrical care.
The other three excellent physicians at Oxford Pointe are Dr. Gary Ritten, M.D., Dr. Valencia Mosely, M.D. and Dr. Michael Bonczak, M.D.
Dr. Ritten moved his practice to the Oxford area over four years ago after having previously associated with Henry Ford Health Systems and the Detroit Medical Center for over 10 years.
Dr. Ritten specializes in high-risk pregnancy, laparoscopic gynecological surgery, infertility and hormone replacement therapy. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecologists.
A graduate of Wayne State University Medical School, Dr. Ritten completed his internship and residency at The New Life Center at Providence Hospital in Southfield.
Dr. Valencia Mosley, M.D., loves what she does and loves being an advocate for women’s health and women’s health issues.
She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Michigan and then graduated from Ohio State University Medical School. She completed both her internship and residency at Henry Ford Health Systems in Detroit.
Dr. Mosley is Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Dr. Michael Bonczak, M.D., has been caring for women for over 25 years. He had previously been in private practice for over 20 years with Providence Hospital before becoming Medical Director of OB/GYN for five years at Macomb Hospital.
Dr. Bonczak earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit and his medical degree from Wayne State University’s School of Medicine. He completed both his internship and residency at Providence Hospital.
Dr. Bonczak is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
