Oxford Area Community Schools will be holding a third public forum on the district’s area attendance adjustment this Monday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in Lakeville Elementary.
Since holding two public forums earlier this month, the attendance adjustment committee has met three times and decided to revamp their original proposal.
According to Edie Paradowski, Oxford Schools communications director and a member of the committee, the new proposal will be reducing the number of students taken from the Lake Villa Mobile Home Park and adding new students located further along the eastern boundary of the Lakeville and Leonard Elementary districts. The committee used newly gathered information, including new attendance numbers, public comments and facts gathered by traveling bus routes, to create the amended proposal.
School officials declined to comment further on the issue until the public forum; however, Paradowski confirmed that around 150 students will still be transferred. Those in the affected areas will be receiving letters through the mail and notices will be sent home with students.
