A Household Hazardous Waste Day is planned for May 10 at Eagle Valley for residents of Orion Township and Oakland Township, but may not happen if more volunteers are not found.
“This can not be done without volunteers,” stressed Orion Township Clerk Jill Bastian at the board of trustees meeting on April 21. Bastian said a variety of volunteers are still needed for the event.
The board approved contracting with Onyx Environmental for the event, with the cost being $54 per vehicle, with household electronics (computers, monitors, etc.) now being accepted.
The board authorized this year’s event at the Feb. 3 board meeting, with a budget of $12,500, after deciding not to join Oakland County’s NOHAZ collection program at this time.
Household Hazardous Waste Day will be at the Eagle Valley Recycling and Disposal Facility, 600 W. Silverbell Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To sign up to volunteer at the event, contact the clerk’s office at 391-0304.
