Entertainment in the gazebo
The summer Chautauqua is coming back to Lake Orion.
Downtown Lake Orion is hosting six weeks of entertainment on Wednesdays beginning at 7 p.m. in the gazebo in Children’s Park on South Broadway.
A Chautagqua is an institution that flourished in the late 19th and early 20th centuries . It provided popular education combined with entertainment in the form of lectures, concerts and plays often presented outdoors or in a tent.
Lake Orion enjoyed a great reputation as a Chautauqua community during those years, attracting vacationers from Detroit, via the interurban, to summers on the lake.

n Aug. 6 — Greg Lester’s Puppet Adventures and Jack in the Beanstalk
n Aug. 13 — Heart of the Hills Men’s Barbershop with Fran Badalamente
n Aug. 20 — Axis presents Contemporary Folk
n Aug. 27 — Jubilee presents Rock Classics
