Ten new teachers join Oxford Schools

Ten new teachers were hired into the Oxford school district for the 2003-04 academic year.
Two high school, one middle school, six elementary teachers were hired along with one for Crossroads for Youth.
Without further ado, meet the new teachers:

Name: Joshua Budden
School Assignment: Oxford High School
Subject: English
Degree: Bachelor’s in English and Communications
Educational Background: Graduated from Walled Lake Western High School. Received his bachelors from Michigan State University.
Work Experience: Student taught seventh grade language arts at Novi Middle School.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: This will be my first!

Name: Jason Cady
School Assignment: Oxford Middle School
Subject: Math and Science, 6th grade
Degree: Bachelor’s in Elementary Education
Educational Background: Graduated from Waterford Mott High School. Received his bachelors from Oakland University in 2002.
Work Experience: Student taught in Waterford. Taught 7th grade Math and Science from January through June.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: First Year

Name: Mark Cavataio
School Assignment: Lakeville Elementary
Subject: PE and Health
Degree: Bachelor’s in Kinesiology
Educational Background: Graduated from Sterling Heights High School. Received his bachelors from Michigan State University.
Work Experience: Student taught in Stoney Creek High School and Meadow Brook Elementary, both in Rochester Community Schools.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: First Year
Why Did You Want To Teach At Oxford Schools? Oxford is a great community with an outstanding school district, and I am lucky to be a part of both.

Name: Mary Croft
School Assignment: Leonard and Daniel Axford elementaries
Subject: Speech – Language Pathology
Degree: Masters in Speech Language Pathology
Educational Background: Graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham. Received her bachelors from Indiana University and her masters from Wayne State University.
Work Experience: Her internship was at Quarton Elementary School in Birmingham. She worked as a speech pathologist intern and child study team member.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: This will be my first year!
Why Did You Want To Teach At Oxford Schools? I wanted to work at Oxford Schools because it is such a respectable district with an involved community.

Name: Amanda Davis
School Assignment: Leonard Elementary
Subject: 5th grade
Degree: Bachelor’s in Elementary Education
Educational Background: Graduated from Rochester Adams High School. Received her bachelors from Michigan State University.
Work Experience: Her internship was in Traverse City at Long Lake Elementary. For the year-long internship, she taught 3rd grade. During this time, she took five graduate classes through Michigan State University 5-year teaching program.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: This is my first year!
Why Did You Want To Teach At Oxford Schools? I wanted to be a part of a growing district. This is a great school district with a lot of resources and technology. Growing up in Rochester Hills, I saw how this district has grown and changed.

Name: Elizabeth Delano

Educational Background: Graduated from Oxford High School. Received her bachelors from Michigan State University and Oakland University.
Work Experience: At Lakeville Elementary – PE, 4th grade, Summer Learning Program; Saginaw Intermediate School District – special education; Auburn Elementary – 1st grade for student teaching.

Name: Catherine DePasquale

Degree: Bachelor’s in History and English with a secondary teaching certificate.
Educational Background: Graduated from Mt. Zion Christian School. Received her bachelors from Oakland University.
Work Experience: Student taught at Dakota High School.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: First year.
Why Did You Want To Teach At Oxford Schools? Great sense of community and camaraderie.

Name: Lori Jones
School Assignment: Lakeville Elementary
Subject: PE and Health
Degree: Bachelor’s in Physical Education K-12. Coaching endorsement. Masters of Education in Educational Leadership.
Educational Background: Received her bachelors from Iowa State University and her masters from Northern Arizona University.
Work Experience: Taught PE 7 years in Tempe and Chandler, Arizona.
Number Of Years Teaching Experience: Starting her 8 year.
Why Did You Want To Teach At Oxford Schools? I live in Oxford and my daughter is a 2nd grader at Lakeville Elementary. I love Oxford!

Name: Bianca Mullins
School Assignment: Oxford Elementary

Degree: Bachelor’s in Science
Educational Background: Graduated from Pontiac Central High School. Received her associates degree from Rochester College and bachelors from Madonna University.
Work Experience: Student taught 5th grade at Oxford Elementary School.

Name: Brady Owens

Educational Background: Received his bachelors from Eastern Michigan University.
Work Experience: Student taught at Romulus.
