Oxford Area Community Schools Superintendent Virginia Brennan-Kyro says she agrees with an Oakland County Superintendent’s Association’s Oct. 30 letter requesting for the remaining three veteran Oakland Schools Board of Education members to resign.
“I agree with what was stated in that letter,” she said. “What they have done seems incongruous to me. The same standard needs to apply to everyone there. If that’s where they have set the bar, then that bar needs to be met by themselves as well.”
The letter states that the association is “outraged” by the board’s decision to demote Interim Superintendent Dan Austin, and by the manner in which that decision was enacted. Brennan-Kyro said that she has spoken with several Oakland Schools employees herself and found that many are pleased with the job Austin has done.
Also, Oxford’s superintendent feels that the timing for this letter was quite appropriate.
“I feel that we made the right decision initially to support the board, and the right decision now,” she stated. “They have set this standard, now they need to meet it.”
