About a quarter of local registered voters cast ballots

Following nine consecutive days of early voting which ended on the Sunday before Tuesday’s election about one in four local voters turned out to cast ballots.
Oakland County voter turnout was 26% and Genesee was 18%. Statewide 22% cast ballots.
“Your vote is your voice – and our democracy is stronger when every eligible citizen has the chance to make their voice heard,” said Jocelyn Michigan Secretary State Benson, following Tuesday’s election. “It’s inspiring to see Michigan citizens active and engaged in this Presidential Primary.”
Of the 6,956 registered voters in Atlas Township, 1,952 cast ballots or 28%.
On the Republican Party ticket Donald Trump tallied 1,020 votes, while GOP challenger Nikki Haley received 359 votes. On the Democratic Party ticket Biden received 417 votes and challenger Marianne Williamson garnered 32 votes.
Of the 13,562 registered voters in Brandon Township, 3,374 cast ballots or 25%.
On the Republican Party ticket Trump tallied 1,870 votes, while GOP challenger Nikki Haley received 567 votes. On the Democratic Party ticket in Biden received 693 votes and challenger Marianne Williamson garnered 30 votes.
Of the 5,268 registered voters in Groveland Township, 1,444 cast ballots or 27%.
On the Republican Party ticket Trump tallied, 816 votes, while GOP challenger Nikki Haley received 232 votes.
On the Democratic Party ticket Biden received 261 votes and challenger Marianne Williamson garnered 24 votes.
In Oakland County, voter turnout 1,045,198 registered voters with 269,585 votes cast or 25.79% .
In Genesee County, voter turnout 351,209 registered voters with 65,194 votes cast or 18%.
