Area man jailed on four counts of CSC

David Michael Bowman, 37, was arraigned on Feb. 29 at 52-2 District Court before Judge Kostin on four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct first degree stemming from a relationship with his 14-year-old niece.
According to police reports, in 2006 the niece was living with Bowman after the death of her parents. The victim was a ward of the state and a runaway from the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center when the pair fled the state to live with Bowman’s ex-wife in Utah. They returned later in 2006 to reside at a home on Oakwood Road in Brandon Township. It was also reported that Bowman had supplied the victim with alcohol and drugs in addition to engaging in an ongoing sexual relationship. At that time, the victim denied the allegations when questioned by police.
In 2007, the victim was turned over to the Department of Human Services and was undergoing counseling when she disclosed the extent of the contact with Bowman.
‘He kept telling her that he was going to marry her and that if she told on him that he’d kill himself,? said Det. Arnie Terrell, Oakland County Sheriff Office, Brandon Substation, who led the local investigation. ‘Following her disclosure, a personal protection order was issued spelling out the extent of the allegations.?
Bowman, who was currently on probation from Macomb County and under investigation for criminal sexual conduct with the same victim by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, was arrested last week at the Brandon Township home. Deputies had to use tasers during the arrest of the suspect.
Bowman is currently lodged in the Oakland County Jail on $2,000,000 bond. If convicted he faces felony-life in prison.
