Brandon teens arrested after rampage

Brandon Twp – Oakland County Sheriff deputies arrested two 17-year-old Brandon boys ending a two week crime spree from Brandon to Independence Township.
On June 3 the teens were arrested and charged with larceny. Both boys have been placed on a $100,000 bond and at this time have been unable to meet the bond.
After being caught allegedly breaking into an Independence church, the pair confessed to Brandon Detective Brad Teague that they had committed several larcenies in Brandon Township, as well.
‘They confessed to a lot of stuff including slashing tires, arson, and scratching obscenities in the bumper of a truck,? said Teague, who added that a lot of the malicious destruction incidents took place in the Brandon mobile home community they live in.
‘They ‘fessed-up? to a lot of things but claim a 15-year-old girl did most of it.?
Because she is listed as a runaway Teague said the 15-year-old does not live at home and he has been unable to question her about being accused of starting the two week reign of havoc.
Teague said the teens told him the girl wanted to steal items in order to pawn them for money.
The boys also said the larcenies began after the girl stole a purse from a parked car in the Brandon mobile home community.
They then drove to Woods Edge Trail and broke into several garages and cars on that street before plundering to another neighborhood.
On Trillium Lane the trio attempted to steal a four wheeled off-road vehicle but were unable to hot wire it, so they pushed it into a creek and made off with a Suzuki 50cc, instead.
Unable to resist the thrill of dirt biking, the next day they rode the Suzuki while taking pictures of each other in the act, with a stolen digital camera.
Although the boys have not yet been charged with the Brandon crimes, Teague said the camera was among a few items confiscated and the pictures will be use as evidence against them when they are charged.
‘We downloaded the pictures and will used them against them in the case.?
Teague said the boys did not give an explanation for the rampage but admitted their actions were ‘stupid,? adding that larceny charges carry a possible ten year jail term and five years for the stolen motorcycle, however he said the teens have not yet been charged with the Brandon crimes but expects to send evidence to the prosecutor this week.
Drugs were not involved, however, Teague said alcohol may have been a factor.
