Brandon Twp.- At the board meeting on Monday night, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Brandon substation commander Lt. Greg Glover gave his 2019 year-end report.
“We responded to 7,612 dispatch calls, with an increase of 89 dispatch calls for the year,” said Glover.
The substation had 7,612 dispatch calls in 2019, up slightly from 7,523 in 2018.
However, traffic citations were down to 2,019, a drop of 331 from the previous year. Only 11 of those arrests were for operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“When I first came out here we were averaging around 60 a year, 58-60 drunk drivers, which is quite high,” said Glover.
“We’ve been down into almost the single digits, which is quite low for out here.”

The township clearance has also gone up this year, keeping us at the highest in the county.
“We had 183 incidents that the feds actually rate us on, and that’s the ones that are used for the safest townships, safest villages, that they use throughout the state,” said Glover. “106 resulted in arrest, 19 were exceptionally cleared, meaning there was no prosecution sought. Our substation had a clearance rate of 68.31 percent. We seem to keep going up. We take pride in the arrests we make on any reportable offence.”
The clearance rate is up 4 percent this year, and is the highest among Oakland County substations.
“The last four years I believe we’ve been the highest in the county,” he said.
Another statistic that is up this year is the number of car vs. deer accidents in the township.
“Every one of the patrol cars in my fleet this year were involved in a car vs. deer accident, including mine,” he said.
The total number of car vs. deer accidents in the township in 2019 was 103 accidents, up from 87 in 2018.
