Brandon’s Lentz selected to first-team Big Ten gridiron squad by coaches

Matt Lentz, a 2001 Brandon High School graduate, was one of nine University of Michigan players that made All-Big Ten Conference in football this season.
Lentz, a senior who was the starting right guard for the second straight year on the Wolverines? offensive line, was one of four players named to the first team by the coaches and second team by the media.
The selections were announced Nov. 23, according to the University of Michigan’s athletics Web site, www.mgoblue.com.
The others were senior center David Baas, senior left tackle Adam Stenavich, and junior nose tackle Gabe Watson. Baas was selected as the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Senior wide receiver Braylon Edwards was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, while running back Michael Hart was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
They were selected to both the coaches and media first team all-conference squads, along with senior tight end Tim Massaquoi, senior cornerback Marlin Jackson, and senior strong safety Ernest Shazor.
