Bullfrogs Cruise Night on hold

Brandon Twp – On Friday, June 6, John Hagar, owner of Bullfrogs Restaurant issued a statement that the seasonal weekly Cruise Night car show is temporarily suspended.
The statement from Hagar’s attorney Gene Farber said Hagar will temporarily suspend the Monday night car show that he held last summer.
‘Hagar said that complaints had been received from some neighbors about the show.?
He said ‘We will review how the show has operated and provide additional training to our staff to insure that there is proper supervision for the show.?
Hagar also indicated that the decision to temporarily cancel the show was completely his.
‘This is not the result of any pressure by township officials. I feel it is in the best interests of the community to take this action until I can satisfy myself that there is adequate supervision for the event.?
‘The show had been held on Monday nights at Bullfrogs.?
‘Classic cars from all over the metropolitan area were on display. Area residents were able to view the cars and talk to the owners without any cost.?
‘A 50-50 raffle provided funds to the Great Centers of Hope in Pontiac, Michigan, which aids underprivileged families in the area.?
In the statement Hagar indicated that it was his intention to continue with the show after the training is completed.
‘The show provides dollars for charity and we want to see this benefit go to the community.?
The letter was in response to and came after, the Brandon Township board denied a transfer of liquor license from Brandon’s Landing owner David Watts, to Bullfrogs Restaurant owner John Hagar in May.
The request was denied by the board because neither Watts nor Hagar appeared before the board to support the resolution, submitted by the Liquor Control Commission.
Township Supervisor Ron Lapp motioned for the denial of the transfer, stating he was not in favor of consenting to Hagar owning another bar in the community until Hagar could explain why Bullfrogs continued to breach several zoning ordinance stipulations for the seasonal Monday Cruise Night car show, sponsored by Bullfrogs.
One of the Cruise Night stipulations was that no speakered music was to be played outside of the restaurant.
The music was on at Bullfrogs weekly Cruise Night, the evening the board was to decide on the liquor license transfer.
