After Christmas in the Village spectators take in the Christmas Parade, they can stop in for some nourishment, courtesy of Girl Scout Troop #1265.
Between 4-7 p.m. Dec. 1, the troop will present a dinner at the Ortonville Masonic Hall, 21 South St., Ortonville. They will serve chili, hot dogs, chicken noodle soup, hot chocolate and coffee.
Jenny Yahn, a volunteer with Troop #1265, said that the six girls that comprise the troop (who are aged 10-11), actually make the soup, chili, take everyone’s order, and help collect money for the dinner.
‘They pretty much run the whole thing,? she said.
In addition, Yahn said another local Girl Scout Troop, Troop #292, based in Ortonville and comprised of eighth graders, will help out at the dinner. She said they will be doing face painting and selling crafts at the dinner.
If this year’s dinner is anything like last year’s, Yahn said the turnout for the dinner should be very high. She said last year the dinner was sold out, and about 100 people attended the event.
