Goodrich – Alan Easton recalls precisely where he was standing during President George W. Bush? inaugural speech.
‘I was behind a Ulysses S. Grant statue in front of the capitol building by the reflecting pool,? he said.

Alan, 16, is a sophomore at Goodrich High School who’s twice participated in People to People trips to England, Ireland Wales, Scotland, and Australia. His participation’and a good evaluation’helped him qualify to be one of the few Michigan students to attend the Jan. 20 inauguration.
Alan was impressed the 109th U.S. Congress was announced, along with the President and Vice President, he said. The U.S. Navy choir and military band music were also highlights of the group’s four-hour tenure in the cold.
Although the crowd saw a few protestors, most were supportive of the inaugural celebration, said Alan.
