With donations from multiple businesses and the steady work of the Orion Township Park Maintenence Crew, the new playground at Friendship Park is almost fully set up. Pictured right are Eric Theisen, Township Supervisor Chris Barnett, and Crew Leader Aaron Whatley on the opening day of construction. Theisen and his father Leonard of Site Development Inc. out of Madison Heights donated $8,000 worth of materials to excavate, level out, and insert drainage tile around the perimeter of the playground. Theisen, of LO, said he asked his dad if they could donate their time to the playground project. ‘I haven’t excavated in a while, so I’ll show these boys how to run some equipment,? he joked.
Levy Corporation American Aggregate in Oxford donated pea gravel, HD Waterworks/Supply donated drainage pipe, and LR Mullins Contracting of LO revomed the old structure. Stay tuned to find out the winner of the park naming contest, and the scrumptious year-round prize compliments of Joe Zimmer and Culver’s.
