Goodrich youth may be tried as adult

Clayton Twp. – He committed the crime as a boy, but a Goodrich youth may be charged as a man.
On Aug. 17 a 16-year-old Goodrich boy was caught, along with three others, stealing a go-kart, an all-terrain vehicle, and other items.
Clayton Township Officer Douglas Sepanak spotted the four pulling out of a driveway at 5:26 a.m. Aug. 17 on Morrish Road north of Bristol Road in Clayton Township, in a Jeep Cherokee with its headlights turned off. The go-kart and ATV, which Sepanak had seen at a nearby home the week before, were loaded onto the roof and into the back of the Jeep Cherokee, said Sgt. Charlotte Brown, of the Clayton Township Police Department.
Along with directions to the house where the go-kart was taken was a list of nearby streets, said Brown, who has received calls regarding other items missing from the area.
Within a week of the larceny, the Goodrich youth turned 17.
The case is currently in juvenile court, but the youth may be tried as an adult.
Two Flint men, 21, and a Mt. Morris Township man, 20, are also suspects in the larceny. Two have been arraigned; a warrant for the other man has not yet been issued by the prosecutor’s office, Brown said.
