Goodrich’s Krych makes All-State softball for second straight year

Goodrich junior Kelsey Krych, for the second straight year, made the Division 2 All-State softball first team in a vote by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association.
Krych was selected as one of six outfielders on the first team. In addition, recently graduated Goodrich senior Tara Garman was named to the Division 2 honorable mention All-State team.
The Martians advanced to the state Division 2 semifinals before losing to eventual Division 2 state champion Wayland. Goodrich finished the season with a 35-7-1 record.
In addition to Krych, Goodrich has had two other All-State selections in the previous three years.
Julie Owen (now a member of the Oakland University softball program) made the Division 2 first team as a shortstop in 2005 and the Division 3 first team as a second baseman in 2004, while Christina Saindon made the Division 3 first team as a second baseman in 2003.
Krych is among the Michigan High School State Athletic Association single-season softball leaders in base hits (76) and stolen bases (76). She set both marks in 2005.
