Hometowners rally around team’s success

Lake Orion became a sea of green and white Friday in anticipation of the evening’s Homecoming football clash with Farmington Hills Harrison.
Fans young and old could be seen out en masse, expressing their allegiance to the home team.
Dragon sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats and other paraphernalia were the uniform of the day for students, parents, grandparents and fans of every ilk.
Nowhere was team pride more evident than at the high school, where students warmed up for the big game during a frenzied pep rally.
By Friday afternoon, throngs of Dragon fans lined the streets downtown for the annual Homecoming Parade.
With the schools? bands leading the way, it seemed nearly every resident in town turned out to either watch or participate in the parade.
Later, after fueling up with dinner, everyone headed over to Dragon Stadium in hopes of seeing the undefeated Dragons incinerate Harrison. Certainly not viewed as pushovers, the visitors had compiled a 5-1 record before Friday’s encounter.
When all was said and done, Lake Orion emerged with a convincing 42-21 victory, keeping the team atop the league standings with a 7-0 record, with just two games left in the regular season.
