From 7- 8:30 p.m., Oct. 21, the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St., Ortonville, will host Jeff Checker, the Demon Hunter Society team founder and team leader.
‘We are full-time demon hunters,? he said. ‘We watch a lot of television shows which feature ghosts or those paranormal hunters’we want people to understand that’s very misleading. The truth is, it’s not ghosts, rather demons that are responding.?
Checker is a proclaimed Christian with a background in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. He has also studied demonology and utilizes electronics coupled with spiritual gifts to determine the presence of spirits. He is working toward a doctorate in Christian counseling from the Institute of Christian Works.
Jeff and his wife Denise say they have both been given the gift of discernment of spirits from the Holy Spirit, enabling them to recognize the presence of demons. He said they have also been given the authority from God the Father to dispel such evil. The Word of God indicates such gifts will be given, especially in the end times, when Satan is seeking to devour us like a lion, he added.
Checker said his experiences with demons began at a young age.
‘When I was 9-years-old I called up a ghost that called itself Abraham Lincoln,? he said. ‘The ghost resembled Lincoln, however, it was wounded in the chest. I knew Lincoln was shot in the head’it was a clue it was a demon not a ghost. At that point the demon pushed my head in a lighted candle and caught my hair on fire.?
The number of calls he receives during the week is overwhelming, he said.
‘We use the same equipment that many of the tv shows use to seek out the ghosts,? he said. ‘That mainstream equipment includes an EMF meter, a scientific instrument for measuring electromagnetic fields and temperature readings. I’ve seen a 20 degree change in temperature.?
‘We only have the authority because of our faith in God and His Word, we alone cannot win the battle; we are mere vessels for God’s work.
Jeff and Denise will share their experiences with fallen angels masquerading as ‘ghosts,? and will explain that, ‘the ghost you saw isn’t your dead grandma, it’s a demon.?
