Local woman named to Village Council

A unanimous council vote on Monday, June 9, placed Gina Joy Roemer, of Ortonville in the council seat vacated last month by Carrie Fenton.
In a letter of intent to the council Roemer said she would be honored to join the council’s efforts and experience in serving the community.
Roemer is a five year village resident with husband Karsten and their two children Janine and Jermaine.
For the past two years Roemer has served the community through her business ‘Your Mill Street Neighbor,? which she said was her concept of how one person could participate for the betterment of one main street, in one village of America. As a Mill Street Neighbor, Roemer hosts monthly open house meetings, produces a newsletter, and volunteers at events to be in service to Ortonville.
Roemer was named the Citizen of the Year by the community, is editor of the Brandon Senior Center Late Bloomers Newsletter, and is serving on the DDA sponsored Main Street application committee.
Roemer will serve out the remainder of Fenton’s term on the council, which will end March 2004. At that time she will have the option to run for election of the seat.
