New leadership for school boards

It was time for a change.
Both Brandon and Goodrich will have new school board presidents at the helm.
After his election to the Goodrich School Board in 2003, Tim Zirnhelt will now serve as president.
‘I’m positive the board will be different,? said Zirnhelt. ‘Right now I will feel my way through and get my feet wet. The main idea is to get us all on the same page. We need to appeal to all groups’we need help to get through this to avoid financial troubles down the road. I’m opposed to teacher layoffs and any privatizing, that’s for certain.?
Outgoing board president Mike Tripp agreed it was time for change.
‘Tim will do a great job,? he said. ‘He knows the board members and the culture of the community. There will be more cuts down the road and given our financial situation it will continue to require sacrifice for all groups.?
In addition, Linda Jackson was elected vice-president, David Cramer was elected treasurer and Doug Tetmeyer will continue as secretary. Jeff Gardner, Niki Wiederman and Michael Tripp will be trustees.
Luke Frye is the new school Brandon School Board president, following the resignation of Debbie Schummer July 5.
The school board voted during their July 18 meeting to have Rob Privette fill Frye’s former role as vice-president. Debbie Brady and Greg Allar will keep their respective positions as secretary and treasurer. School board officers are elected each year in January.
Schummer was absent from the most recent board meeting, but plans to continue to serve as a board trustee. She resigned as president due to conflict with current Superintendent Lorrie McMahon.
