No injuries in township fire

Atlas Twp-Fire investigators from the Michigan State Police were at the scene of a house fire on Henderson Road near Green Road at about 2:30 p.m., July 25.
Township firefighters, along with aid from Davison and Groveland townships in addition to Brandon Fire Department, responded to the fire after a neighbor called 9-1-1 at about 2:15 p.m.
Township Fire Chief Fred Forys said no one was at home at the time and no injuries were reported after the fire was extinguished.
Forys said the two-story house, located about 800 feet off the road, was engulfed when they arrived. Firefighters were on the scene until about 7:30 p.m. that evening.
The home is located near the Green Road bridge which has been closed since last December. Forys reported that the bridge did not pose an obstacle to firefighters responding to the fire, however, Groveland Township Fire Chef Steve McGee, said his crew was delayed about three to five minutes due to the closed bridge.
‘We sent one tanker and some manpower to the fire,? said McGee. ‘We made the adjustment and arrived in enough time to help battle this blaze.?
