Groveland Twp.’Oak Haven Farm owner Nick Nichols, or Farmer Nick as he is commonly known, says the local landmark will be here for at least one more season.
Despite some remaining ‘For Sale? signs, Nichols, 62, says a deal with Dixie Baptist Church, 8585 Dixie Highway, Clarkston to purchase the 34-acre Oak Haven Farm located near Dixie Highway and Grange Hall Road, fell through last month.
‘They say, ‘farmers live poor and die rich,?? laughed Nichols. ‘This land is worth more sold than we’ll ever make on it’somewhere you just have to draw the line.?
Nick and his wife Pam purchased the farm in 1984 for the intention of raising Appaloosa horses. Since then the business grew to include farm animals, hayrides, cider and doughnuts, all part of the autumn festivities at the farm.
