Violent drunk
On Aug. 10, at 1 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 1500 block of Wildwood Loop for a domestic violence complaint. The complainant said her husband arrived home drunk. He woke her up and began yelling at her. He cornered her in the bedroom and grabbed her hair while punching the wall behind her. She told him she was leaving and he went outside and threw a metal chair through her car windshield, then came back in and slapped her. He took her cell phone and threw it, damaging it and preventing her from calling 9-1-1. He then grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened to kill himself. The complainant’s two sons were witnesses and confirmed the assault on their mother. The suspect admitted to a verbal argument. He was arrested for domestic violence without incident and lodged at the Oakland County Jail. He was issued a citation under the local domestic violence ordinance.
Rocked
On Aug. 11, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4600 block of Hemlock Loop for a report of malicious destruction of property. The complainant said someone threw a large rock through the rear window of her van sometime between 8 p.m. and 3:30 a.m.
Deadbeat
On Aug. 11, a Brandon deputy on patrol observed a man in the 100 block of South Street that matched the description of a man wanted on a Friend of the Court warrant. He confirmed his identity, arrested him and took him to the Oakland County Jail.
Drug overdose
On Aug. 12, at 6:15 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 4300 block of Fir to assist the Brandon Fire Department with a subject who appeared to have overdosed on drugs, possibly heroin. The subject was found lying in the grass by a neighbor and was semi-conscious and foaming at the mouth. Narcan was administered and the 20-year-old man improved immediately. The man’s brother told the deputy that he didn’t know where his brother had been or who he was with. He said his brother has a drug problem and just got out of jail the day before.
Keyed
On Aug. 14, a Brandon deputy responded to the 600 block of Mill Street. The complainant said between 10 p.m. and 9:40 a.m., someone keyed her 2007 van, parked in her driveway. The woman said she had just moved in and a ‘for sale? sign was also knocked down.
Warranted
On Aug. 14, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3600 block of Pinoak for a fight in progress. On arrival, the deputy saw two men holding down a third man, who was known to have a felony warrant and was being sought by the Fugitive Apprehension Team. The suspect has made threats against one of the other men, the father of the suspect’s wife. The man with the warrant was taken into custody and turned over to the Lake Orion Police.

Stoned
On July 26, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3600 block of Chestnut for malicious destruction of property. The complainant said about 2:30 a.m., he heard a loud noise in the back bedroom. He found a large stone had been thrown through the window and also damaged the drywall. The case is open.
Salt
On July 28, a Brandon deputy responded to the 400 block of Saddle Lane. The complainant said between July 7 and today, two truckbed salt spreaders were stolen from behind a garage where they were being stored. The combined value of the spreaders is $7,000. The complainant said the homeowner allows him to store his off-season landscape equipment there and the homeowner was out-of-town when the larceny took place.
That sucks
On July 28, a Brandon deputy responded to Forrester’s Car Wash, 880 S. Ortonville Road, for the breaking and entering of a coin-operated vacuum. Someone damaged the device by prying it open and stole an unknown amount of quarters. The case is open.
Draining divorce
On July 29, at about 7 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 3500 block of Olde Farm Lane for a report of harassment. The complainant said he and his ex-wife had a bitter divorce and still live in the same home together. His ex had a graduation party and he agreed to stay away. This weekend it was his turn to host the graduation party for their son. The complainant said his ex-wife cut the lock on the electrical box that services their pond, draining it. He said this is just one of several harassing tactics used by his ex. He consulted an attorney and was advised to document the incident.
The big picture
On July 31, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Redbud Lane for a neighbor complaint. The complainant said a Charter employee installed cable for her television on July 29. The cable ran from her service box across the next door neighbor’s yard. The neighbor cut the cable and dragged it off her yard. When the deputy spoke with the neighbor, she admitted cutting the cable and said she has had problems in the past with the cable and considers it a hazard. She said her elderly mother tripped on it and she was concerned about liability issues. A cable employee came to repair the cable and said the neighbor who cut the cable would be billed. The cable was fixed and was run along the back of and around the neighbor’s yard.
Two-wheel trouble
On Aug. 1, a Brandon deputy responded to the 300 block of Granger Road for larceny of a motorcycle. The complainant said someone stole his white 2001 Harley-Davidson from the apartment parking lot.
Reefer madness
On Aug. 1, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Apple. The complainant said she was having trouble with her 17-year-old son smoking marijuana and not following rules. They argued and he punched the dashboard and radio in her car, causing damage. She said he has friend in the house late at night and she doesn’t approve and wants him out. The deputy advised her on eviction, laws, and her rights.
It’s noon somewhere
On Aug. 2, at about 7:16 p.m., a Brandon deputy was advised to be on the lookout for a possibly intoxicated driver on Church Street near Mill Street. The deputy had another car stopped at the time when another driver stopped and advised him the drunk driver had just passed him. The deputy followed the suspect vehicle eastbound on Oakwood Road and stopped it on Timberwood Drive. The driver smelled strongly of intoxicants. He said he’d had five or six beers. He failed several field sobriety tests and the deputy asked him if he knew the legal limit. The driver responded correctly, .08. The deputy asked him if he thought he was under the limit. The suspect responded, ‘No, I’ve been drinking since noon.? A preliminary breathalyzer test revealed the man had a blood alcohol content of .302. He was taken to Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital for medical clearance, then to the Oakland County Jail. His license was confiscated and destroyed. He was issued an appearance citation for operating while intoxicated and released pending an investigation after reduction time for his blood alcohol content.

Deadbeat
On July 14, at 5:52 p.m., a Brandon deputy stopped a vehicle on Redbud near Apple for an unlicensed trailer. A passenger had a valid civil warrant for non-payment of child support and was taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Past curfew
On July 15, at about 2 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol at Crystal Creek and Baldwin roads observed a vehicle accelerate quickly and squeal the vehicle’s tires for several seconds. The deputy turned around to follow the suspect vehicle and saw it turn east on Stanton Road without a turn signal, and then turn on to Twin Lakes with no turn signal before the driver pulled on to the shoulder and turned the vehicle’s lights off. The deputy shone a spotlight on the vehicle and saw the male driver lay down in the front seat in an apparent attempt to make the vehicle look empty. The deputy approached the vehicle and asked the driver what the problem was. The driver, 17, said he was late getting home and was scared. There were several beer bottles in the vehicle and the deputy detected the odor of intoxicants. The driver admitted drinking a few beers. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .066 percent. He was arrested under zero tolerance laws and also cited for possession of tobacco by a person under 18, and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Warranted
On July 15, at 9 p.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Ortonville Road near Huff Lake Court. A passenger had two misdemeanor warrants and was turned over to Lapeer Police at Lapeer and Oakwood roads.
Fired up
On July 16, a Brandon deputy responded to the 700 block of N. Hadley Road for a report of malicious destruction of property. The homeowner said his garbage can was on fire. He had walked to the end of the driveway with a can of water and put out the smoldering flames. The garbage was put out to the road at about 6 p.m. There was nothing in it that would be an accelerant. The Brandon Fire Department was advised.
Super glue
On July 16, a Brandon deputy responded to the 2100 block of Allen Road for malicious destruction of property. The complainant said someone superglued three quarters and a Target gift card to his windshield and car windows. A neighbor said he saw two boys from the neighborhood by the vehicle. Both boys denied being there and their mothers said the boys were with them. The case is open.
Vacant home vandalized
On July 17, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1900 block of Kent Road. The complainant watches over an abandoned farmhouse in the 1700 block of Hadley. The owner of the Hadley home lives in China and the complainant found a back door window smashed. No property was reported missing. The incident is believed to have occurred between June 1 and July 17.
Flag theft
On July 18, a Brandon deputy responded to the 200 block of Candace Court for larceny. The complainant said someone stole his United States flag from his flagpole in the front yard. The flag is illuminated at night.
Groundhog
On July 20, a Brandon deputy doing stationary radar on South Street was approached by a passerby who believed she had a rabid animal in her yard in the 2200 block of Granger Road. The deputy found an injured groundhog there and euthanized the animal.
Once bitten
On July 18, at 3:15 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Larch for family trouble. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a man outside. When the deputy asked what happened, the man said, ‘nothing, I didn’t call you.? The deputy ordered him to the patrol car and the man refused and began walking away, complying only when he was warned that he would be tasered if he didn’t cooperate. The man showed several scratches and a bite mark on his leg. He said he was in bed asleep when his girlfriend came home from drinking with a friend. She began yelling at him because he didn’t answer a text message from earlier in the evening. He got up and she scratched and bit him. He said he pushed her away and got out of bed. The girlfriend told the deputy she was out drinking and when she came home, they began arguing. She admitted she bit him, but said it was after he grabbed her by her hair and pulled her down. She said she didn’t know why the deputy was there. The woman’s friend said she was the one who called 9-1-1. All parties had been drinking. Advice was given and the woman left the home to stay the night with her friend. Case closed.
Voices carry
On July 19, at 5:40 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 2500 block of Perry Lake Road for an alarm with glass breakage. The deputy found the rear garage door open, with a handle broken and door window smashed. The interior of the home, which is unoccupied and under construction, was checked. Voices were heard next door, where there were beer cans and multiple cars in the driveway, but there was no response from the occupants. The door to the empty home was secured.
Kegger
On July 20, a Brandon deputy responded to the 2600 block of Cook Trail for larceny. The complainant said between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., someone stole two beer kegs from her backyard? one that was full and the other nearly empty. The case is open.

Torched
On July 8, at about 3:30 a.m., a Brandon deputy reported to the 4000 block of Hazel Court. The complainant stated that, while sleeping, a person unknown to him threw one of his tikki torches into the bedroom window. The complainant stated that the window was open, but the screen was damaged. The tiki light was also damaged during the process. No physical evidence was located at the scene.
No luck truck
On July 8, at about 11:30 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 4000 block of Butternut. The complainant stated that a person or persons unknown to him broke the driver’s door window of his truck. The vehicle was parked and unoccupied in his mother’s residence driveway. A report was filed.
Try to pry
On July 8, at about noon, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1000 block of Oakwood Road. The complainant reported that a person or persons unknown to him entered onto his property and used an unknown object to pry the lock off his outbuilding adjacent to his house. No items of value were removed from the building.
All work, no Playstation
On July 8, at about 6 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 200 block of Cadence Court. The complainant , who said he had moved out of his home, stated that his 18-year-old son was living in the house. The home is an address known for MIP parties and numerous teenagers are known to hang out in the residence. While the complainant ‘s son was out of the house, a number of teenagers were still in the home. A Playstation 3 was noticed missing at about 11 p.m. The complainant provided identification numbers for the item. Advice was given and an information report was written.
Under fire
On July 9, at about 12:30 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 3000 block of Redbud Lane. The complainant stated that he confronted a 15-year-old white male who was lighting fireworks off at Redbud lane, including a Roman Candle. The complainant said he was struck with something on his upper lip and believes that the teenager intentionally pointed the candle at him. The area was checked, but no suspects were located.
Table topples
On July 10, at about noon, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4000 block of Hazel Court. The complainant said during the night hours, a person or persons entered onto his porch and damaged the $20 glass top table in the front yard. No other damaged was noted.
Chew on this
On July 10, at about 2:45 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 5000 block of Winterberry Park Drive. The complainant reported that she got in an argument with her 15-year-old son about his supposed possession of chewing tobacco. The complainant said her son packed a backpack and left her residence without her permission, on foot enroute to Oxford to stay with his father for the weekend. The Brandon deputy, as well as Oxford unit, attempted to locate the complainant’s son with negative results. The deputy called the teenager’s father’s home and was informed that the boy was there. The case was closed.
No support
On July 12, at about 6:30 pm, a Brandon deputy responded to Dogwood Blvd. and Hemlock Loop to stop a vehicle for vision obstruction. The driver was checked and revealed that he had a civil warrant for non-payment of child support. The driver was lodged in Oakland County Jail without incident.
Two drinks
On July 13, at about 12:25 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to South Ortonville and Wolf roads, finding a vehicle swerving and varying speed between 50 and 60 miles per hour.The deputy made a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who stated she had consumed two beers an hour earlier. Upon further questioning, the driver revealed that she had consumed two vodka drinks. When the driver could not complete a sobriety test, she was housed in the county jail until cleared for release.

Tractor theft
On June 13, at about 9 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Apple for larceny of a lawn tractor. The tractor was stolen from an unlocked shed and a neighbor witnessed the theft. The case is open.
Cable me
On June 30, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Apple for larceny of cable television. The deputy met with a Charter cable employee who showed where a resident had illegally hooked up for cable television. The employee said the resident had done this several times. The homeowner admitted her husband had illegally hooked up their cable and said she was willing to pay past charges. The employee disconnected the cable and the deputy submitted a report. The case is open.
Unlocked, unloaded
On July 1, a Brandon deputy responded to the 100 block of N. Hurd Road. The complainant said between June 27-29, someone entered his unlocked pole barn and stole two chainsaws, a backpack blower, and gas-powered hedge trimmer. The estimated value of the stolen items is $3,000.
Row, row, rowed away
On July 1, a Brandon deputy responded to the 2600 block of Lakeview for larceny. The complainant said someone stole his 12-foot aluminum row boat next to the retaining wall in his front yard. He recently purchased the boat for $50.
No power
On July 2, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4000 block of Hummer Lake Road for a report of larceny from an auto. The complainant said someone stole several items from his unlocked truck. Most of the items were recovered a short distance away, with the exception of a Huskvarna masonry power saw valued at $1,200.
Unlocked, unloaded II
On July 2, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4100 block of Hummer Lake Road for larceny from an auto. The complainant said sometime during the night, someone stole an LED radio display, iPod, and his wallet, with driver’s license and credit cards inside, from his unlocked vehicles.
Pit bull peril
On July 3, at about 7 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 400 block of Mill Street for an animal complaint. The complainant said she was walking her Jack Russell terrier in the 100 block of Cedar Street when a pit bull type dog charged her dog. The complainant kicked at the attacking dog to get it away and told the pit bull’s owner he needed to control his dog. The man responded that there was nothing she could do because they lived in Oxford. The suspect told the deputy that his dog was sitting on the porch when she walked by in front of his brother’s house and his dog charged, but didn’t ‘attack.? He admitted that the dog is unregistered. He was cited for dog at large and unlicensed dog.
9-1-1 phantom
On July 5, Brandon deputies responded to the 1400 block of N. Hurd Road for a 9-1-1 hangup. The 9-1-1 operator called back and a female said 9-1-1 was never called from that phone. The deputies found the front door open, but no one around. They left a business card.
Easy come, easy go
On July 6, at about 9:43 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 100 block of Lake Shore Drive for unlawful driving away of an automobile. The complainant said between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., someone stole his 2006 Pontiac G6 from his driveway. He had left the vehicle unlocked, with the keys in the ignition.

As you wish
On June 23, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1800 block of S. Ortonville Road after a man had a verbal argument with his girlfriend and called 9-1-1. The girlfriend stated she had felony warrants, so the deputy might as well take her to jail. The woman had two felony warrants and a misdemeanor warrant and was taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Swamp things
On June 24, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4400 block of Hemlock Loop for malicious destruction of property. The complainant said someone pulled up assorted lawn ornaments and solar lights and threw them in the swamp behind her home. A similar incident occurred the same day at a neighboring home, where the complainant said someone pulled 10 solar lights out between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and threw them into the swamp.
Foreclosed
On June 25, a Brandon deputy responded to the 2600 block of Buckeye. The complainant, the manager of Sashabaw Meadows Mobile Home Park, said the bank had foreclosed on the Buckeye address and bank staff informed her that guns and other property were found in the house. She believes kids are using the home to throw parties. The home was checked and a vehicle in the driveway was registered to the former occupants. No one was at the home, in which it appeared personal property was in the process of being moved. A neighbor said he would contact the former occupant to get his property and the home was secured.
Mail theft
On June 29, a Brandon deputy responded to the 300 block of Deer Lane for larceny of a license tab. The complainant said between June 24 and June 28, someone stole the tab for his 2006 Pontiac vehicle by taking it from a piece of mail sent to him by the Secretary of State.

Fired up
On June 16, at about 3 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 4200 block of Dogwood in the Clarkston Lakes Mobile Home Park for a fire at the mailbox shelter. Brandon firefighters extinguished the fire.
Classless
On June 20, a walk-in complaint was filed at the Brandon substation. The complainant said while away from his residence per a court order, his daughter and ex-wife removed items from his home in the 2700 block of Flint Boulevard. The items included his father’s college ring, his grandfather’s gold pocketwatch, two wedding bands, a white gold class ring with emerald stone, a gold necklace, two gold bracelets, $800 in coins, a 13-inch color television, a phone, luggage, office supplies, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and photographs that were on his refrigerator. Additionally, two screens were ripped out, a door was kicked in and the frame was broken, two seals were broken on windows, a toilet or bathtub was overflowed, causing damage to the family room ceiling and carpet, and a lock on a front screen door was broken. 18-gallon gas cans were also emptied and filled with water. The complainant’s neighbor had witnessed the daughter and her mother enter the home and remove the items. The complainant said his daughter had called a locksmith and entered the home and his adjoining photography studio without his permission and had searched through files that included Social Security card numbers, credit card numbers, bank accounts, and routing numbers. The daughter was in control of the residence between May 24 and June 9.
Nasty
On June 22, a Brandon deputy responded to the 5700 block of Hummer Lake Road for malicious destruction of property. The complainant said someone vandalized her mailbox by spraypainting it and also threw eggs on her driveway. She had been out of town since June 18 and returned to find the damage, as well as the word ‘nasty? spraypainted on the dirt road in front of her home. The complainant suspects the vandal is the victim of a crime her late husband allegedly committed. The vandalism is the third she has recently had.
Smashed
On June 22, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4300 block of Hazel for malicious destruction of property to a window. While the complainant was gone from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., someone smashed the storm window to his children’s bedroom.

Lockdown
On May 26, at 11:25 a.m., Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School was put on lockdown after a woman called police to report she’d had an argument with her son, who had just fled home on foot heading toward the school. The woman said her son had been having behavioral problems and had argued with her and his older brother before punching walls and leaving the home in the 100 block of South Street, running into the woods toward the school. The juvenile was found and returned home.
Honeymoon’s over
On May 27, at about 3:51 a.m., a 9-1-1 dispatcher received a call from a cell phone and heard the words ‘stop it? and a female crying. Attempts to call the number back had negative results. A Brandon deputy responded to the 4300 block of Wildwood Loop for a welfare check of the woman and found the victim and her husband. The man said everything was fine, but the woman said he had punched her in the back of her head and took her keys and phone. The victim had a rip on the back of her pajama top and two large lumps on the back of her head, as well as a reddening line on her neck. Mattresses were askew in the bedroom and there was a hole in the drywall the size of a fist. The husband said his wife came to look at a vase they acquired on their honeymoon night and an argument ensued and she slapped him. He said he took her keys and phone, but didn’t want to hurt her. The woman said they married last fall but have been separated a month. He asked her to come over and to not divorce him. They argued and he punched her, she said. Preliminary breathalyzer tests revealed the woman had not been drinking, but the husband had? he had a blood alcohol content of .204 percent. He was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence under local ordinance and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Broken and stolen
On May 28, a Brandon deputy responded to the 5500 block of Oakwood Road for larceny from an auto. The complainant said between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m., someone broke the passenger side front and back windows on his Mustang and stole his black wallet with his identification and debit cards inside.
Sirius
On May 28, a Brandon deputy responded to the 5600 block of Oakwood for larceny from an auto. The complainant said between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m., someone broken into three of her family’s vehicles, stealing two stereos and a Sirius radio.
Liar
On May 28, a Brandon deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for defective equipment on Oakwood Road near State Park Road. The driver smelled of intoxicants, and when asked how much he’d had to drink, said he didn’t drink anything. A preliminary breathalyzer test had results of .173 percent blood alcohol content. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to the OCJ.
Tool time
On May 31, a Brandon deputy responded to the 900 block of N. Hadley Road for the breaking and entering of a garage. The complainant said between 11:15 p.m. and 9 a.m., someone stole a chainsaw, leaf blower, string trimmer, bench grinder, and angle grinder from his garage after he forgot to lock the access door.
Beer bottle brawl
On May 31, at about 12:51 a.m., Brandon deputies responded to an establishment in the 2000 block of Ortonville Road for a large fight, with several people yelling and screaming and beer bottles involved. The deputies were met in the parking lot by bouncers who said the responsibles left in a white Corsica on Viola. They named the driver, but were unsure on other suspects in the car. The victim was inside bleeding from a large cut near his right ear. A witness said he was at the bar with the victim when guys he had trouble with earlier in the week started an argument. The bouncers broke up the fight, but the suspects wouldn’t leave. The suspects then started a fight with the bouncers and the victim was hit from behind with a full beer bottle. Other witnesses collaborated his story. The case is open.
Tailgater
On June 1, a Brandon deputy responded to a business in the 900 block of Ortonville Road for larceny from an auto. The manager of the business said over the weekend someone stole a tailgate with a drop-step feature from a parked 2009 Ford F352 truck.
Last meal
On June 1, at about 9:05 p.m., a Brandon deputy was told to be on the lookout for a possible drunk driver. An employee of McDonald’s had called 9-1-1 to report a vehicle in the drive-thru contained an intoxicated driver and passenger. The employee got the plate number and the deputy stopped the vehicle after seeing it drive off the shoulder of Ortonville Road near Mill Street. The driver was eating a hamburger as the deputy approached. He had no driver’s license and said he’d had three or four beers. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed the man had a blood alcohol content of .164 percent. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and his passenger was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for operating while intoxicated, second offense. They were taken to the Oakland County Jail.

Faceoff
On May 17, a Brandon deputy responded to the 300 block of Sherman Court for harassing communications. The complainant said her daughter is constantly being harassed by her ex-boyfriend, who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. The mother checked her daughter’s Facebook page and found the ex-boyfriend had changed all her daughter’s passwords and was slandering her. He is also continually calling their home.
Grocery grab
On May 19, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Juniper for a stolen wallet. The complainant said she arrived home from grocery shopping at 12:30 p.m. and while she was taking the groceries out of the vehicle and into the house, someone stole her purse. She found her wallet on the ground near the residence, and taken from it was her unemployment Visa card, a pre-paid Mastercard, $40 in cash and a Social Security card.
X Files
On May 19, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3600 block of Pinoak for a report of breaking and entering. The complainant said she and her boyfriend left around noon and returned about 1:30 p.m. to find someone pried the rear door open and took an X-Box, several X-Box video games, and movies. Coins were also taken from a container in the bedroom. The door was damaged from a prior breaking and entering and was not in good condition. The door is now beyond repair.
Harassed
On May 20, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3700 block of Granger Road for obscene phone calls. The complainant had received several calls from a younger male and said two of the calls were sexually explicit. She was advised to contact the nuisance bureau of the phone company to set up a trace.
Four beers, no liquor
On May 20, at about 2:25 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol on Ortonville Road near Glass Road stopped a vehicle after it crossed the white fog line and turned on Viola without using a turn signal. The deputy smelled a strong odor of intoxicants from the vehicle. The driver said he was coming from the bar and had four beers, but no liquor. He failed several field sobriety tests and a preliminary breathalyzer test had results of .193 percent blood alcohol content. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Stolen pine trees
On May 22, a Brandon deputy responded to the 100 block of Hadley Road. The complainant said while he was out of town from April 27 to May 18, someone stole two 12-year-old pine trees from his property that were planted along the road edge.
LFA
On May 22, a complaint was made at the Brandon substation for larceny from an auto. The complainant said someone stole $50 and prescription medication from his vehicle which was parked on Cedar Street near the village ballfields.
One beer, no, two beers
On May 23, at about 1:34 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol on Seymour Lake Road observed a vehicle driving erratically, jerking back and forth in the lane and crossing the centerline. The deputy stopped the vehicle on Perry Lake Road and noticed a strong odor of intoxicants. The driver said she’d had a beer a half-hour before, then said she’d had two beers. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed she had a blood alcohol content of .160 percent. She was arrested for operating while intoxicated, second offense, and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Bikeless in Brandon
On May 23, a report was filed at the Brandon substation for lost property. The complainant said her son loaned his red and silver bike to a friend, who then rode it to the Skate Park. He got a car ride from the park and forgot about the bike, which is now gone.
Domestic
On May 24, at about 6 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 2700 block of Flint Boulevard for a domestic assault between a father and daughter. The complainant said she was assaulted by her father as he tried to put her out of the house. She said she had been living with him for the past two months and they were having an argument about her not paying rent. He demanded she give him her house key and she refused. He ran past her into her room, took the house key off her key ring and threw the rest of the keys at her, hitting her on the right side of her face. She told him she wouldn’t leave without her and her children’s belongings and he shoved her and swung a cell phone charger cord at her, then shoved her against a wall and dug his nails into her arm, then pushed her out the door and locked it. Marks on the woman were consistent with her statements. The father was arrested for domestic assault and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Messed up
On May 25, at about 12:23 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 4300 block of Wildwood Loop for malicious destruction of property. Dispatch advised that the 9-1-1 caller told police someone had driven up to the home, got out picked up a rock and threw it through the back window of a vehicle parked in the driveway, shattering the window. Witnesses named the suspect, who left in a gray Buick. The deputy stopped the vehicle en route to the scene and the driver admitted throwing the rock, saying she was upset with her soon-to-be ex-husband for messing her life up.

Lost
On May 12, at about 4:56 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 4000 block of Big Fish Lake Road for neighbor trouble. The complainant said deputies had just been out because his neighbor didn’t agree with where he thought his fence posts should go. After the deputies had left, he began working again when his neighbor’s son and his friend came over and began harassing him. The complainant said they called him names and spun tires on their all-terrain vehicles, hitting him with mud and rocks. The complainant left and returned to find his post missing. He began videotaping the suspects when another ATV sped toward him with the father of one of the suspects. That man got off the ATV, screaming obscenities and charged the complainant, trying to slap the video camera out of his hand while the complainant called police. The father told the deputy, ‘I lost it, I’ll admit it.? The other men denied spraying rocks and mud on the complainant. The deputy observed ruts from ATV tires, mud all around the scene and the complainant’s arm bleeding from rocks he said were thrown on him. The complainant’s video and statements confirmed his story. The father, his son, and the son’s friend were all cited for assault and battery (disorderly) under a local ordinance and released.
Not keeping tabs
On May 14, a walk-in complaint was taken at the Brandon substation. The complainant said his license tab was missing and he wasn’t sure if it fell off his 2008 Chevy or was stolen.
Among the ruins
On May 16, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1100 block of N. Hurd Road for a home invasion just discovered. The homeowner said the family left at 9 a.m. and returned at 11 p.m. to find the home in ruins. Someone had gone through all the closets but nothing was missing. Glass was broken out of a door to gain entry, but high-priced items were untouched. The family was advised on additional security precautions.
Rocked
On May 17, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3600 block of Hawthorne for malicious destruction of property. The complainant said between 1 a.m. and 11 a.m., someone threw a rock through the kitchen window and it landed in the sink. A report was filed for the insurance company.
Epic fail
On May 17, at about 2:45 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to Dogwood and Cedar Loop to assist another deputy in an operating while intoxicated investigation. The suspect had refused a breath test after saying he’d had four beers. He then said, ‘Come on man, you know what it’s like. You know I am going to fail the test, you know I had more than four beers.? He was arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail, were a Datamaster test showed the man had a blood alcohol content of .20 percent. He was cited for operating while intoxicated and refusing a preliminary breathalyzer test and housed at the jail.
Thwarted
On May 17, at about 5:25 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 4400 block of Dogwood for someone breaking into a vehicle. The homeowner said he confronted a suspect carrying a crowbar and was punched two or three times. Dents and scratches on the vehicle appeared fresh.

Drinking in woods
On Aug. 8, at about 8:20 p.m. a Brandon deputy responded to two complaintants on South Ortonville Road to a report of a man in a wooded area drinking and urinating. When the deputy arrived, he spotted a man in the woods on a cell phone. When he approached the suspect, the man denied urinating and said he was just talking on the phone.
Breaking in
Between Aug. 1 about 5 p.m. and Aug. 2 about 7 p.m. on the 100 block of Wolfe Lane, a complainant said an unknown person had entered private property by attempting to remove the service door from the doorframe, damaging the frame in the process. The Brandon deputy on the scene said he saw nothing inside the building that had been removed or damaged.
Shot of mercy
On Aug. 3 at about 2:20 a.m. on the 1700 block of Kent Road, a Brandon deputy observed an injured wild animal on the side of the road. The deputy identified the animal as a fox and saw that it was critically injured. After determining the location to be safe, the deputy fired a round from his gun atthe fox’s head, killing the animal.
Stranded
On July 31 between noon and 4 p.m. Brandon deputies responded to a complainant at the 3000 block of Redbud Lane following a report of a bicycle from the Clarkston Lakes Mobile Home Park. The complainant’s son said he saw no one take his bike, but it was gone when was ready to leave the park. The bike has not been located.
It’s a sign
On July 26 at 8 a.m. on the 300 block of Mill Street, Brandon deputies responded to a report an election sign was moved without the complainant’s consent. The complainant said she was informed from a friend that two men removed the sign and put it in their car. The license plate on the car was recorded but the owners have not been reached.

Good neighbor?
On July 28 between 3-10:30 p.m., Brandon deputies responded to a complainant at the 4300 block of Hazel Court that someone sabotaged his vehicle by disconnecting the transmission fluid line. The complainant drove the vehicle approximately one mile to work and one mile home. While driving, he noticed the gears having trouble shifting and the tires slipping. When the complainant arrived at home, he noticed a trail of transmission fluid. The complainant called the police and said he suspected his neighbors had vandalized his car. The neighbors have had verbal arguments and disagreements in the past. The Brandon deputy inspected the car and saw no tool markings or signs of tampering.
Brandon speedway
On July 29 at about 4:20 p.m., a vehicle going southbound on Ortonville Road was spotted passing in the center lane and on the shoulder, speeding and tailgating. The Brandon Deputy on patrol pursued the vehicle with its emergency lights on and sirens blaring. The vehicle did not pull over, but accelerated. After approximating two miles, the vehicle pulled over and the deputy approached with his gun drawn. When asked if he had been drinking, the driver said he had a beer with lunch and had a blood alcohol content of .023 percent.

On July 23, at 12:25 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle for a cracked tail lens on Oak Hill Road near Bushman Lane. The driver said he was coming from a friend’s house near DTE Energy theater. His eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred, but he said he wasn’t drinking. A preliminary breathalyzer test on the driver had results of .146 percent blood alcohol content. His mother was called to pick him up and he was cited for minor in possession.
Assault, child abuse
On July 23, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a township mobile home community and arrested a 24-year old female for domestic violence and fourth degree child abuse. A 27-year-old man said his live-in girlfriend had been drinking and became agitated with him over a debit card. The woman pushed their 6-month-old baby into the man’s chest, bumping the baby’s head on a door during the altercation. She also hit the man in the head five times according to the report. Groveland Township firefighters examined the man, who suffered scratches to his face. The baby was also examined and was uninjured. The woman had two prior charges of domestic assault.
Warranted
On July 24, at about 1:09 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 2300 block of Allen Road to make a warrant arrest for operating while intoxicated, second offense. The subject was taken to the Oakland County Jail without incident.
Plateless in Brandon
On July 24, a Brandon deputy responded to the 5000 block of Hummer Lake Road for larceny from an auto. The complainant said his license plate was lost or stolen from his 2005 Adirondack trailer.
Fraud
On July 25, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Cedar Loop for a credit fraud report. The complainant said someone was using her debit card to make unauthorized purchases. She suspects the charges were made by phone? two to Red Roman’s in the amounts of $88.75 and $109.96 and one to Harriet Carter for $107.86. The account has been terminated.
Slashed
On July 26, a Brandon deputy responded to the 400 block of State Park Road for a report of malicious destruction of property. A tire was slashed on the complainant’s vehicle between 8 a.m. and noon and she suspects a woman who had threatened to slash all of her tires because the complainant’s boyfriend had implicated her in a drug case.
Plateless in Brandon II
On July 27, a Brandon deputy responded to the 100 block of S. Ortonville Road for a stolen license plate. The complainant said between July 25 and July 26, someone stole the plate off his 1984 Chevy Blazer.

Five, 6 beers too many
On July 15, at about 11:55 p.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol at Oak Hill and Sashabaw roads stopped a vehicle that had a broken rear taillight. The driver had an open, almost full 24-ounce beer can in the cup holder. The driver said he’d had five or six beers. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed the man had a blood alcohol content of .171 percent. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
Domestic assault
On July 16, at about 1 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to a home on Myron Street for a domestic assault. The complainant had a cut in her hairline. Brandon Fire Department personnel responded and said she needed stitches, but she declined transport to the hospital. The woman said she and her boyfriend were at the bar. She left to go home and he was following, but said his feet hurt. She got home and he was not behind her. She went looking for him and went back to the bar, but he wasn’t there. When she returned home, he was there. When she asked him why he’d left, she said he got up from the couch and hit her in the head and left. She told the deputy it doesn’t take much for him to go off. The suspect was found and said, ‘Nothing happened, just take me to jail.? He was arrested for domestic violence.
Rocked
On July 16, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3900 block of Azalea Court for a malicious destruction of property report. Someone threw a baseball-sized rock through a back bedroom window during the night.
Auto theft
On July 17, a report of unlawful driving away of an automobile was filed at the Brandon substation. The complainant said his wife left their home in the 3600 block of Chestnut on July 16 and observed his 1998 Blazer in the drive at 11 a.m. She returned four hours later and it was gone. The complainant said the vehicle was given to him by a subject in May for work he did. He never titled it because his license is suspended. He doesn’t drive it, so it has been parked since May. The subject who gave him the vehicle is the only other person with a key to the vehicle, which the complainant said was locked. No broken glass was found in the driveway.
Tactless
On July 17, a Brandon deputy responded to the 4500 block of Ivy for a report of malicious destruction of property. The complainant said he last saw his windshield intact at 1 a.m. He went to work at 5 a.m. and found it broken, with a 3-inch round starburst indent, apparently caused by a rock.
A couple?
On July 17, at about 12:35 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol on Oakwood near Sashabaw Road stopped a vehicle after it crossed the fog line. The deputy had also observed the vehicle doing 60 mph in a 30 mph construction zone. When the driver was asked if he’d consumed alcohol, he said he’d had ‘a couple.? An open Bud Light beer bottle about a 1/4 full was in the vehicle. A preliminary breathalyzer test revealed the man had a blood alcohol content of .213 percent. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated, open intoxicants in a vehicle and speeding.
Cut
On July 18, a report was filed at the Brandon substation for a malicious destruction of property that occurred July 16 at a home in the 1200 block of Hummer Lake Road, where the complainant is employed. Her license plate had been cut in half.
Crotchety
On July 18, at about 1:40 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol on Sashabaw Road near Oak Hill Road stopped a vehicle with an expired license plate. Both occupants of the vehicle had suspended licenses. K-9 Bodi searched the vehicle and alerted on the passenger side seat. The passenger was asked if he had anything on him and he said he had drugs in his crotch area. The suspect then pulled out a bag of about 3 grams of marijuana and a corner bag of tobacco. The driver was cited for no license on person and expired registration. The passenger was cited for possession of marijuana.
Bikeless in Brandon
On July 20, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1600 block of Wooley for a report of breaking and entering. A woman’s black bike was stolen from the detached garage. The bike’s estimated value is $100.

Copper caper
On June 30, a Brandon deputy responded to the 2800 block of Oakwood Road, where a new elementary school is being built, for a larceny report. The complainant, a construction superintendent, said that sometime during the past two days, someone removed several 6-foot sections of 3/4 inch copper tubing that had been installed in the school. The copper has a $500 value.
Skirt scandal
On July 1, a Brandon deputy responded to the 2300 block of Ironwood for a malicious destruction of property report. The complainant’s mobile home skirting had been damaged.
Hit and run
On July 1, a Brandon deputy responded to a business in the 400 block of Mill Street for trouble. The deputy arrived and a man said a second man, who had left the scene, ran into his car with his truck and they had words. The complainant said he threw his cell phone and the suspect took it. He didn’t want to press charges, he just wants his phone back. Witnesses said the suspect was hitting on the complainant’s girl. The girl left and both subjects followed her out and then began fighting. The suspect tried to run over the other man and hit his car and took off. The case is open pending review from the prosecutor.
Car chaos
On July 2, a Brandon deputy responded to a home in the 3600 block of Hawthorne for family trouble. The husband said his wife drove a vehicle at him and struck his leg. He then recanted the story and said there was a verbal argument in their home and car, in which he kicked the car and punched the windshield, breaking the glass. He agreed to leave the home for the night.
No deposit, no return
On July 2, a Brandon deputy responded to a business in the 600 block of S. Ortonville Road for a breaking and entering complaint. A lock to a storage shed had been removed and two empty kegs valued at $30 each and $50-$60 worth of returnables were stolen.
Wake up
On July 2, Michigan State Troopers from Groveland Township received a report of a man passed out in his car on Grapevine Road. Troopers said when they approached the car they tapped on the window, then banged on the window and finally shouted very loud before he finally woke up. The 19-year-old Flint man reported he was just too tired to drive home so he pulled over and went to sleep. There were no signs of alcohol, so the man drove home.
Warranted
On July 3, a Brandon deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle on Ortonville Road near Glass Road on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. The driver’s license was suspended and he had three misdemeanor warrants, including one out of Madison Heights. He was cited for driving while license suspended and driving left of center and turned over to Madison Heights Police.
Tax tantrum
On July 4, a Brandon deputy took a report in the 100 block of N. Hurd Road for intimidation. The complainant owns a landscaping company and employed a man for three weeks. The man became upset about taxes being taken out and began calling the complainant, saying, ‘I’m going to get you when you turn your back,? and ‘I’m a criminal, you’re just a landscaper.? The information was taken for future reference.
Crash and dash
On July 7, Michigan State Troopers from Groveland Township received a report after the front windows were smashed at the Food Castle in the 16000 block of Dixie Highway. According to reports, at about 3:43 a.m., someone threw a metal stand- alone ashtray through the front window of the store, entered and removed cigarettes, along with one half-gallon of rum. Troopers say the suspects escaped on foot. K-9 units were dispatched and searched the area but could not find the suspect. Case open.
Zinfandel perfume
On July 6, a Brandon deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle near Oakhill Road after observing it swerve back and forth in the lane and cross the centerline. The driver smelled of intoxicants and perfume. She said she was lost, coming from a wedding in Lake Orion and going home to Clinton Township. She told the deputy she’d had three Zinfandel drinks over five hours. She failed several field sobriety tests and refused a preliminary breathalyzer test several times before finally submitting. Her PBT results showed she had a blood alcohol content of .18 percent. She was cited for operating while intoxicated and refusing a PBT.

Pot plunder
On June 18, a Brandon deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle that appeared to have no license plate on Glass Road, east of Viola. The deputy detected the smell of marijuana from the vehicle. The driver consented to a search and the deputy found several glass pipes, as well as a silver grinder with two grams of marijuana. The vehicle did have a license plate, but the cover over it was dirty. The driver was cited for possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia.
Turn it up
On June 21, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a report of loud music in the 6000 block of Perryville Road. Troopers responded and found very loud music playing at the home. The owners turned it down. Case closed.
Gone
On June 22, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 16000 block of Jossman Road for a report of verbal fight. A husband and wife were arguing over property. The woman packed a bag and left. Case closed.
Runaround
On June 21, at about 2:29 a.m., Michigan State Police troopers contacted dispatch to request a Brandon deputy go to a home in the 300 block of Granger Road to make contact with a subject involved in an accident. The troopers had the man’s truck, in which blood was found in the cab. The man’s ex-wife was at the home and said he’s not there anymore, he stays with a friend in Ortonville. The deputy went to that home and the resident there said the man lives at the home, but wasn’t there. While she was speaking, her cell phone rang and it was the subject’s sister, who said he was at her house and may have broken his leg. The deputy went to the sister’s house and saw a person asleep on the couch. He yelled, ‘Sheriff’s Department? come to the door,? and saw someone looking out the window, but no one came to the door. MSP troopers arrived and still, no contact was made. The troopers stated they had the man’s truck and would write the owner some tickets.
Unlocked
On June 23, a Brandon deputy responded to the 400 block of Baldwin Road for larceny from an auto. Someone entered the complainant’s unlocked vehicle and took his employer-owned cellphone/PDA, and his wallet with various credit cards, identification items, and $20 in cash.
You can run, but you can’t hide
On June 23, around 2 a.m., a Brandon deputy on patrol on Baldwin Road near Highview observed a vehicle doing 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. The deputy activated his lights and siren and the vehicle finally came to a stop at Howland Pines Drive and Riseman Court, but the driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled through several yards. The vehicle had three passengers and the deputy called for backup. The passengers showed signs of intoxication, but refused to submit to preliminary breathalyzer tests. They said they were at a party and the driver offered them a ride and they don’t know him. The driver wasn’t immediately found, but was identified.
Gone
On June 22, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 1000 block of Jossman Road. A couple were in an argument over property. The wife packed a small bag and went to the neighbors?.

Mean girls
On June 22, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 16000 block of Fall River Road following a report of a fight between two females. The verbal argument turned into fisticuffs, according to the report.
I’m home, Dad
On June 26, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township pulled over a vehicle on Dixie Highway due to one headlight burned out. When the trooper approached the car, she noticed a strong odor of intoxicants. A search of the car found empty beer bottles and other alcohol bottles in the car. The car was towed and impounded while the trooper gave the man a ride to his home in Holly. Upon arrival, the suspect’s mother came to the door and let him inside. As the trooper was leaving the driveway, the suspect and his father came out of the home fighting on the ground. The trooper had to separate the two men. The suspect requested to be taken to the Holly jail facilities and incarcerated over night.
Unlocked and loaded
On June 24, a Brandon deputy responded to the 1200 block of N. Baldwin Road. The complainant said his 9 mm handgun was stolen from his truck. He last saw the gun on June 20 when it was in his center console. He was unsure when the gun may have been taken, and doesn’t lock the vehicle because of a problem with the lock mechanism. The case is open.
Going off
On June 25, at about 12:45 a.m., a Brandon deputy responded to the 3700 block of Pinoak for an assault and battery report. The deputy was met at the home by a man with a bloody nose who said three men came over and asked for his sister. He told them to leave, it was too late. They returned and this time the victim’s mother told them to leave, that her daughter was not coming outside. The daughter then said they would leave if she told them to, and her brother accompanied her outside. He said the suspects then started ‘going off? on him and pushed his other sister, which upset him so he held one down until another punched him in the face. Several of the people involved were found to have been drinking, and not all parties were interviewed, since some had warrants and left the scene and one of the suspects? intoxicated mother was uncooperative, but citations for minor in possession were issued and petitions were submitted for more citations. The case is open.
What a kick
On June 27, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 1000 block of Jossman Road after a report of domestic violence. The woman at the home said the couple were having financial difficulties and her husband was leaving in his car when she kicked the side of the vehicle. He stopped and chased her’blows were exchanged, but no injuries were reported.

Wrong turn
On June 16, a Michigan State trooper from Groveland Township reported a vehicle traveling on Dixie Highway that swerved and almost hit her patrol car. The trooper followed the vehicle into a Holly subdivision where the driver lived. The driver was questioned and stated that he’d been golfing all day and had consumed some alcohol. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
Unhappy camper
On June 17, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the McGinnis Lake Campground. A woman reported her ex-husband was causing trouble while she was camping. He picked up some property at the camp site and left. Case closed.
Missing
On June 17, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to Bald Eagle Lake Road to a report of a runaway 15-year-old female. A woman reported her daughter was missing and could not be reached by cell phone. Troopers called the number the next day and the girl responded and said she was in the Sashabaw Meadows Mobile Home Park. The troopers, parents and daughter met to discuss the case. Case closed.
Hummer bummer
On June 19, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 9000 block of Oakhurst to a report of a missing vehicle. A woman reported her 2007 Hummer missing from her driveway. Troopers investigated determining that her husband, who works in Ohio during the week and returns to Groveland Township each weekend, drove up and moved the car from the driveway to storage. The vehicle is registered in his name and the troopers reported that the marriage is rough. Case closed.
Canine cracks case
On June 19, a Brandon deputy and his K-9 partner, Bodi, responded to an apartment complex parking lot on Cass Lake Road to assist the Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Keego Harbor Police Department. Bodi sniffed around a burgundy van and alerted on an open driver’s side window. The police opened the door and found a bag containing 84.5 grams of cocaine.
Flying ice cream
On June 19, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3400 block of S. Hadley Road for family trouble. The man at the home said he and his wife are having marriage problems and are heading to divorce. He said they were talking and then began yelling and she started throwing things. He said she wasn’t throwing things at him directly, although it appeared to the deputy the man had been hit with flying ice cream. The woman said she had been trying to talk to her husband and he began calling her names. When he used one particular word choice, she lost it and threw whatever she could grab. She said she was very embarrassed and sad, as some items were keepsakes. She said he never touched her or threw anything. The man agreed to leave and both were encouraged to seek marriage counseling.

There you are
On June 2, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to 1300 Van Road and arrested a woman on 10 counts of embezzlement of more than $20,000 from Shelby Township.
Rocked
On June 5, a Brandon deputy responded to the 300 block of Brandon Hills for larceny from an auto. The complainant’s purse was stolen from her locked van in her driveway after someone threw a large rock through the passenger front side window.
No trespassing
On June 5, a Brandon deputy responded to a report of trespassing at property located at Tonda and Oakwood roads. The complainant was furious that he found ATV tracks after repeatedly warning neighbors to stay off his property.
Gone
On June 6, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded toThistle Ridge Drive, near Tripp Road, following a report of stolen items from a van parked in the victim’s driveway. Big time fight
On June 6, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to13000 Dixie Highway for a report of two females fighting. The boyfriend of one of the suspects was barbecuing when he saw the fight and broke it up. The dispute was alleged to be over problems at their place of employment. Case open.
I spy
On June 6, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to 5000 Groveland Road after a report of a suspicious vehicle near his residence. The driver attempted to hide when he approached and followed him to the Home Depot in Mundy Township. The suspect was found to be a priviate investigator hired by the victim’s place of employment.
Bushed
On June 6, a walk-in complaint was made at the Brandon substation for three recently planted shrubs stolen from the Brandon Township Community Park, 1414 Hadley Road. The shrubs were taken on June 3 or 4.
Bodi strikes again
On June 6, a Brandon deputy and his K-9 partner, Bodi, responded to the 200 block of Ross Court in Highland Township to track a breaking and entering suspect. The partners tracked through heavily wooded areas and clearings before eventually finding the suspect lying on his back under heavy underbrush.
Drunk driver
On June 7, a Brandon deputy on patrol on northbound Ortonville Road near Glass Road stopped a vehicle doing 71 mph in a 50 mph zone. The driver smelled of intoxicants and a preliminary breathalyzer test revealed he had a .23 percent blood alcohol content level. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Hands off
On June 7, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3600 block of Hawthorne for family trouble. The complainant and suspect have been separated for eight years, but have a child in common and an every other weekend custody arrangement. The suspect arrived to pick up his daughter and told the complainant to quit texting his girlfriend, or he would choke her. She said she was only responding to her and the suspect said he’d choke them both. When she told him he would never touch her again, he threatened to snap her neck.
Suspicious
On June 7, a Brandon deputy responded to a business in the 3900 block of S. Ortonville Road for suspicious circumstances. There were no signs of forced entry, but the owner said several pages of business letterhead was missing and his computer was not as he left it.
Runaway
On June 7, at about 8:50 p.m., a Brandon deputy responded to a home in the 2700 block of Allen Road for a runaway juvenile. The complainant said she and her son had an argument and he left. The case is open.
Beach brawl
On June 7, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to Huron Lake Recreation area for the report of a fight. Along with backup from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, when troopers arrived there was no fight, however, two large groups of individuals reported a dispute over a stolen purse and cell phone prompted the fight. Several vehicles were searched and no stolen items were recovered.

Eagle eyed
On May 26, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Davison Lake Road for the breaking and entering of a pole barn. The complainant said between May 24 and 26, someone entered an unlocked window of the barn and took a red 1980 Eagle moped valued at $300, as well as a 5-horsepower Thunder Cart go-cart, also a $300 value. The complainant later observed his stolen go-cart in the yard of a vacant residence in the 600 block of Mt. Elliott just inside Lapeer County. The moped was not found. The vacant home was secured and the go-cart returned.
Egged
On May 26, a Brandon deputy responded to a report of malicious destruction in the 1700 block of Inner Drive. The complainant said his vehicle was egged. He washed it, but the egg wouldn’t come off.
Stopped
On May 27, a Brandon deputy on patrol at Ortonville Road and South Street observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light and made a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver’s license was suspended and he was on parole. The case was turned over to the prosecutor’s office for driving while license suspended, second offense.
Alarmed
On May 28, a Brandon deputy responded to a home in the 400 block of Green Creek Lane for a breaking and entering alarm. The deputy found the home’s front door unsecured and a small dog inside, but no suspicious circumstances. The home was secured.
Tireless
On May 29, a Brandon deputy responded to Randy Wise Ford, 628 S. Ortonville Road, for larceny from an auto. An unknown person took three tires and rims from a 2006 Ford Explorer parked in the lot.
Dog gone
On May 30, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a missing dog in the 15000 block of Hawley Road. The dog owner left the animal in the custody of his girlfriend while he was in Wyoming searching for a job. He planned on returning to Michigan and recovering the dog. The girlfriend and property owner of where the dog was housed reported that her boyfriend’s son returned to the property to pick up some items and removed the dog. The suspect claimed it was his dog and had the identifying papers. On June 1, the dog was returned. Case closed.
Warranted
On May 30, a Brandon deputy responded to the Shell gas station at M-15 and Glass Road for a welfare check on two intoxicated subjects. The deputy found the subjects, who said they were walking from a nearby bar. A LEIN check revealed one man had two misdemeanor warrants and a valid Friend of the Court warrant. He was arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
Guns gone
On May 31, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to 16000 Dixie Highway after a report of a burglary and forced entry to an apartment. The victim reported two shotguns were missing from the apartment, however, there was no damage to the dwelling.
Alarmed II
On May 31, Brandon deputies responded to a home in the 3100 block of Hummer Lake Road for an alarm. The sliding door to the basement was unlocked. There were no intruders or signs of unlawful entry found. The home was secured.
Rocked
On June 1, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Redbud Lane for a malicious destruction of property report. The complainant said someone driving a dark-colored vehicle threw a rock at the back window of her vehicle and broke it.
Ditched
On June 1, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to Grange Hall and Worden roads for an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch. The vehicle apparently knocked down two street signs as it entered the ditch. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and reported that he was driving at 35 mph and swerved to miss a deer before going in the ditch. He was issued a ticket for leaving the scene.

Who are you?
On May 11, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 3100 block of Groveland Road for a fraud complaint. The female victim said that someone opened a utility account in the Traverse City area with her name and social security number. Troopers also found four hits on her account in the Kalakaska area with the same personal identification but different birthdates. Case open.
Outrage
On May 12, a Brandon deputy responded to the 3800 block of Redbud Lane for a larceny report. The complainant said an unknown person cut a cable lock and stole his granddaughter’s bicycle. It is a 24? blue and silver bike with chrome wheels, made by Mongoose, and is the Outrage model.
Problematic drunk
On May 12, Brandon deputies responded to the 1300 block of Beth Lane for a disorderly person. The complainant said his neighbor was drunk and was in his yard, yelling at him and his son. The neighbor asked if the complainant had a problem, and when the complainant answered no, the neighbor asked, ‘Do you want one?? The complainant then asked his neighbor to leave and called the police. The neighbor left, got in his vehicle, and backed over the complainant’s mailbox. When deputies questioned the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, he said he was not driving, rather, his wife drove him next door to get their dog. Then he changed his story, saying he did drive to get the dog and exchanged words with the complainant. He said he didn’t know if he hit the mailbox or not. A preliminary breathalyzer test on the suspect had results of .221 percent blood alcohol content. Scrapes were observed on the right rear bumper of the suspect’s vehicle and a reflector was cracked, consistent with hitting a mailbox. The suspect was cited for disorderly conduct and a LEIN check showed he was on probation for operating while intoxicated in Macomb County. A report was forwarded to the suspect’s probation officer.
Say what?
On May 13, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township reported a complaint of verbal threats toward a 14-year-old female high school student. The victim said the suspect, also a 14-year-old female high school student told her she was going to, ‘kick her a??. School officials said the suspect was suspended from school due to the incident. Case open.
Walk on
On May 13, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 3700 block of Bird Road after a report of a missing person. A 13-year-old girl was reported missing by her parents after she failed to return home following a walk. The girl had been out walking the family dog when her father found the dog tied to a tree near a home on Bald Eagle Lake Road. Troopers responded to the home and found the missing girl along with some of her friends. She said there had been arguments at home and she needed some time. Case closed.
Hit man
On May 13, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township received a complaint from a Goodrich man regarding a hit and run. A driver of a late 90s Pontiac Grand Am was reported driving erratically on northbound Ortonville Road. The suspect attempted to pass the victim on the right side of the roadway, sideswiping his car and hitting a guardrail. Genesee County deputies were also contacted, however, the suspect fled law enforcement in a nearby subdivision and was not found. Case open.
Missing
On May 13, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a larceny from an automobile in the 8300 block of Buckell Road. The victims reported three wedding rings and pharmaceutical drugs missing from their car which was parked at their home. The keys were in the ignition and the doors were unlocked. The victims reported they could not hear any suspicious noises due to a running air conditioner. Case open.
Deja Vu
On May 14, a Brandon deputy responded to the 5100 block of Oakhill Road for a report of malicious destruction of property to a vehicle. Someone had spraypainted the side of the complainant’s 2006 Chevy pickup truck. The complainant removed the paint, but said this is not the first time this has occurred.
Meijer mayhem
On May 15, a walk-in complaint was made at the Brandon substation. The complainant said she went to her bank to make a withdrawal and learned her account was overdrawn by $115 and $900 in fraudulent checks had been written at Meijer. She noticed the same day that her driver’s license and two major credit cards were missing.
Stopped
On May 15, a Brandon deputy on patrol observed a vehicle drive past the stop sign at Dogwood and Oakhill Road and made a traffic stop on the vehicle. A LEIN check revealed the driver had a suspended license from an April drug charge in Detroit. He was cited for driving while license suspended, no proof of insurance, and warned for rolling through a stop sign.
Warranted
On May 15, a Brandon deputy arrested a man on a Friend of the Court warrant in the 2200 block of Ortonville Road and transported him to the Oakland County Jail.
Found
On May 15, a Brandon deputy responded to Pheasant Ridge and Granger roads after a complainant said he suspected a trailer left there unattended was stolen. The owner was contacted and said the trailer and two snowmobiles were stolen earlier in the week and the OCSO auto theft unit had a suspect in custody. The trailer and snowmobile parts were impounded.
Just checking
On May 16, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township received a report of stolen account information. The victim, a 28-year-old female, reported cash missing from her checking account. The victim said her account was overdrawn by $100, however, more than $3,000 had been deposited. Oxford Bank was contacted and several checks were written to stores in the Southgate and Jackson areas. Case open.
All fired up
On May 17, a Brandon deputy on patrol by Ortonville and Glass roads observed an occupied red pickup truck at the Shell gas station at around 12:35 a.m. He approached the vehicle, which had its windows cracked, and smelled burning marijuana, which he saw both occupants smoking. He shone his light in the driver’s side window and the driver dropped the marijuana cigarette. The man gave the deputy his driver’s license and handed the burning cigarette over. More marijuana was found in the driver’s side door, totalling about 4 grams. He was cited for possession of marijuana and the passenger was cited for marijuana use.

Destroyed
On April 19, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a hit and run personal property damage accident in the 3000 block of Grange Hall Road. The complainant knows the suspect and said he arrived to make contact with his ex-girlfriend, whom she told him was not there. She told him to leave and he backed down the driveway at a high rate of speed, crossing the grass and hitting a split rail fence, completely destroying it. The suspect was located and cited for driving while license suspended, failing to report a traffic crash and careless driving.

Unlocked, windows down
On April 19, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to a business in the 16000 block of Dixie Highway for larceny from an auto. The complainant said she went into the business for a few minutes, leaving her vehicle unlocked and the windows down. When she returned, she found her purse gone.

Mob mania
On April 20, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to Groveland Manor in the 13000 block of Dixie Highway for a ‘mob? fight. The complainant reported several people were wandering the streets and fighting. The troopers didn’t find a mob, but neighbors said 10-15 people were being rowdy. The scene was cleared after patrol by the troopers.

Assault
On April 22, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to Groveland Manor in the 13000 block of Dixie Highway for an assault. The complainant said she walked to the back of the park a little after midnight with a guy and when he went to get cigarettes, she was approached by four girls and two boys who started punching and kicking her. She noted one man punched her in the eye, while another kicked her in the head. She said the suspects were the same people she had argued with earlier after they were using foul language at a playground while her children were present. The complainant had a black, swollen eye, multiple scrapes and bruises all over her body, and blood coming from her left ear.

Get off my property, chop, chop
On April 22, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to the 900 block of N. Ortonville Road for neighbor trouble in which one neighbor had threatened another with an axe. The troopers met the suspected axe-wielder at his residence, where he was presently unarmed and his 3-year-old daughter was near. The man’s neighbor said his 10-year-old son was riding a dirtbike around the yard and the neighbor began yelling and chasing him. When he asked the neighbor why he was harassing his son, the neighbor said the boy was riding on his property. The boy’s father got an aerial photograph to show property lines and an argument ensued, in which the neighbor who was annoyed by the dirtbike told his daughter to go inside, he had something to show the man. The suspect said the complainant had threatened him and he called 9-1-1 and got an axe. The case is open pending further review.

Really satisfies?
On April 28, a Brandon deputy responded to the 200 block of Granger Road for recovery of stolen property from the breaking and entering of a concession stand at Brandon High School. The complainant gave the deputy a bag of candy and pop that her son and his girlfriend stole. Her son had admitted drinking a Mountain Dew and eating a Snickers candy bar. His girlfriend took the rest of the items and stashed them by his bedroom window.

Three against one
On April 28, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 3800 block of Cedar Loop for assault and battery. The complainant said he had exited his school bus at his stop and then was jumped by three males who were on the bus earlier. He was treated by medics from Brandon Fire Department and refused medical transport. The case is open.

Missing
On May 2, a Brandon deputy responded to an assisted living home in the 300 block of Mill Street for a report of a missing person. A mentally disabled man left the home at 3:54 p.m. An employee said it is common for residents to leave and return. However, at 5:20 p.m., the employee received a call that the missing subject had been seen at McDonald’s in Holly. At 7:16 p.m., she reported him missing. The last time he went missing, he was gone for four months before returning. The man was wearing a blue jean jacket, blue jeans, a blue baseball cap, brown shoes and was carrying a backpack.

Defective
On May 3, a Brandon deputy on patrol made a traffic stop on a vehicle with a non-working plate light on Hemlock Loop near Dogwood. The man’s driver’s license was expired and he had two warrants out for his arrest. He was cited for defective equipment and driving while license expired and taken to the Oakland County Jail.

Hit and run
On May 3, Michigan State troopers from Groveland Township responded to Groveland Manor in the 13000 block of Dixie Highway after the complainant’s van was damaged in a hit and run accident.

Keyed and painted
On May 4, a Brandon deputy responded to a home in the 4300 block of Wildwood Loop for malicious destruction of property. Someone had shot paintballs at the home and keyed the complainant’s vehicle.

Hit and run
