Goodrich- Two area residents will vie for one seat on school board in the May 4 school election.
Scott Statson, Jr.and Niki Wiederman will be on the ballot in the election replacing current school board trustee, Lynne Morisette, who was appointed to replace longtime Trustee Michael Thorp, who resigned on May 6, 2009 when he moved from the district. Morisette announced Jan. 18 at the school board meeting that she will not be on the ballot.
Goodrich resident Wiederman, 39, earned a bachelor of arts degree in general science and social science in 1993 from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1993. In 1998 she graduated with a master’s degree in counseling from Oakland University. Wiederman has lived in the Goodrich district for eight years and is currently employed in the Atherton School District, where for eight years she served as a high school biology teacher before taking a position as a guidance counselor at the high school. She has two children in the district’Sydnie, 12, a seventh grade student and Brendan, 7, a second grade student.

Atlas Township resident Scott Statson, Jr., 21, is a 2007 Goodrich High School graduate and currently attends Mott Community College in Flint were he is studying business.
Statson is employed at the Davison Meijers and Grand Blanc Hunt Club. Statson, Jr. is the son of Scott Statson, Sr., who serves on the Atlas Township Board of Trustees.

The school board term is four years and the new trustee will take office July 1.
