Two twp. men arraigned after summer car vandalism spree

Brandon Twp.-Oakland County Sheriff detectives from the Brandon Township Substation arrested two area teens last week in connection with an August crime spree where five cars were vandalized, causing $9,000 in damage.
Detective Dale Brown said township residents Max Gerber and Tom Shahin, both 19-years-old, were arraigned in 52-2 District Court, each on three counts of malicious destruction of property, suspected of damages using a razor knife to scratch cars along Mill Street. The vehicles were at three village residents? homes when the crimes were allegedly committed. One of the residents posted flyers in the village requesting public information regarding the crimes.
‘The boys said they were ‘bored,?? said Brown. ‘The information from the flyer gave us enough information to solve the crime.?
As of press time, Shahin remains lodged in the Oakland County Jail, while Gerber was released on $5,000 personal bond. They face three counts of malicious destruction of property, a five-year felony.
