Ortonville — The village council has received an applicant for the current vacant village council seat. They interviewed Ashley Mould during their regular meeting on March 25, and she is expected to be approved and sworn in as a council member at their regular meeting on April 22.
“My family lives here, and they said they’d been here for three plus years and they had never been downtown and didn’t know what downtown was,” she said. “I grew up in Clarkston, and I just assumed that most downtowns were family friendly, so I brought them down town here to some events.”
Mould is a heart monitor data analyst, and she has lived in the community for a year and a half. She said she was interested in applying for the position to see how things are done within the village.
“If I’m going to retire here and hang out here with family, I want to see where the money is going,” she said. “But also maybe be a voice from a different perspective. I don’t want downtown to be a Royal Oak by any means, but making it more accessible for families and children would be good.”
The seat was originally vacated by Pat George, who retired from council in November.
“I just want to present varying perspectives on the village council,” she said. “Adding a different perspective to things.”
