Village awards drain bid to Roger Engels Construction

Ortonville- The village will pay $27,995 to reroute a storm drain, enabling the Village Pub to move ahead with a water treatment system.
Roger Engels Construction, Inc. of Lake Orion won the low bid on the project at the July 24 village meeting. The village plans to pay for the rerouting by using their fund balance.
The rerouting of the drain, currently located behind the pub, requires an easement from the township and involves the placement of three drainage structures and approximately 145 linear feet of twelve-inch storm sewer. Work is expected to begin after Aug. 7, and Village Manager Ed Coy hopes it can be completed by Aug. 18.
Installation of the water treatment system will bring the pub into compliance with requirements from the Department of Environmental Quality and the Oakland County Health Division. Pub owner Amy Guirey said the Pub has been on a pump and haul system and estimates that by the time the new water treatment system is in place, she will have spent about $100,000 for septic issues at the business over the past two years.
