On Saturday, Dec. 12, the members of VFW Post 582 and Girl Scout Troop 76460, led by Lisa Radkey, braved the rain with volunteers and family members to participate in Wreaths across Ortonville.
There were 490 veterans honored at Ortonville Cemetery and 84 at Seymour Lake Cemetery, who had a wreath placed on their graves.
“This was all made possible with donations of wreaths and money along with hard work from Girl Scout Troop 76460’s fundraiser for wreaths,” said VFW commander Dennis Hoffman. “I’m proud and very honored to be part of this community and their support of the VFW and veterans.”
Total, $1,996 was spent on wreaths, and all of the money came from donations.
“There is a lot of patriotic pride in Lisa Radkey and her troop and their parents,” said Hoffman. “Thank you to all the volunteers and donations. Clearwater Campground owners and Allison Reis donated $1,550. The post received a total of $2,000.”
