We would like to thank Brandon Township for their support of the Youth Fair for Oakland County. Recently, yard signs for the 2008 Oakland County Fair were placed around the township announcing the fair dates and were taken down just two days after being put up. After a call to the Brandon Township supervisor’s office, we were told Brandon Township has an ordinance prohibiting the use of any temporary signage. This is amazing since the fair has used yard signs for more than 10 years and has never heard of this. Furthermore, a simple call to the fair office alerting us to this little known fact would have saved us hundreds of dollars in replacing these signs only to have them removed again.
Come on, Brandon Township, it is time to work together for the good of the community, not against those volunteering to provide more opportunities for today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
