Expect more in 2005

It’s now all in the past.
After 366 days we can now look back at a myriad of events that mark 2004.
Nationally hurricanes ripped through Florida; Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry came up about 3 million votes short and the Boston Red Sox faithful ended ‘the curse? and an 86 year World Series drought. The NHL is missing; $2 per gallon gas was a good buy and a war entered into yet another year.
Our nation lost President Ronald Reagan;Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando.
Despite all the big national stories plastered in the national media, the editoral content of The Citizen presents a laundry list of news items that we believe impact our community far greater than such grand events.
A new South Street bridge; new administrative offices in Goodrich; and Brandon and Goodrich schools trim budgets keeping pace with a major state shortfall. Strife in Goodrich over a recall and village dissolution; M-15 issues are never ending and environmental troubles loom over sewer issues in Ortonville.
All issues that our readers face every day.
As we conclude 2004 The Citizen’s objective remains the same for 2005’be your community newspaper.
The issues of the world can be found in a variety of media, yet what happens down the street can only be found in ‘the? local paper’that’s us.
So in 2005 we’re committed to be there for your concerts, accidents, sporting events, weather events, meetings, arguments or whatever else the community provides good, bad or neutral.
Look for more community historical features, a series on community growth and a regular outdoor page.
Our officies are located at 12 South St. downtown Ortonville, next to Thompson’s Hardware store. We are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday so stop in and say hi.
