4 seats up for grabs in Village election

There’s an unexpected twist for next Tuesday’s Lake Orion Village election: candidate Ryan Curtis has asked voters not to vote for him as he is moving out of the village.
Because deadline for printing ballots has come and gone, his name will be an option for voters.
Those still on the ballot, and still planning on residing in Lake Orion are incumbents John Ranville and Michael Toth. Rounding out the ballot are village residents Douglas Hobbs, Lawrence Stumkat and Lisa Yee — this is the trio’s first time running for public office.
Council president Rob Reetz and councilwoman Julie Drabik have opted not to seek reelection
Village residents are asked to fill four council seats. The top three vote getters on September 15 will each win a four-year term, while the candidate with the fourth highest vote tally will secure a two-year term.
Earlier in the year, The Review teamed up with Orion Neighborhood Television to introduce the candidates. ONTV aired the Meet the Candidates Forum on August 12. The candidates discussed issues facing the village. The Review has run part of candidate answers in previous weeks (to check ’em out go to our website at www.lakeorionreview.com). Today we offer the exciting conclusion to this series, which starts on page 8.
