Goodrich Martian football, girls cross country hoist state title banners

Goodrich — Two hard earned championship banners were recently added to a impressive trove of athletic awards.
On Jan. 24 prior to the Varsity Basketball games at the Al Martas gymnasium, the Goodrich Girls Cross Country team and Goodrich Varsity Football team State Championship banners were displayed.
On Nov. 2, the Goodrich Girls Cross Country team competed at the 100th Anniversary of the MHSAA State Championship at Michigan International Speedway. The team consisted of seven girls, five of which finished the race at MIS between 19th and 47th place with a gap of just 33 seconds between the first and fifth runners. Our six and seven runners were very close behind to win the state title. Lady Martian Cross Country team brought home a MHSAA State Championship an accomplishment that had not been achieved since back-to-back-to-back crowns in 2003-2005.
The Goodrich Martian Varsity Football team capped off an impressive 36-5 record over the last three seasons, with an overwhelming display on both sides of the line of scrimmage earning the schools first state championship on Nov. 29 with a 35-6 win over Niles at Ford Field.
The Martians won League titles in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024. District titles in 2022, 2023 and 2024 Regional championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Now, 2024 Division 4 State Champions.
