Good news for business owners in downtown Oxford’s northwest quadrant – the village council voted unanimously Tuesday to accept a five-year, $1,000 per month lease agreement for the 15-space parking area owned by developer Charles Schneider.
The property in question is located between the Healthy Smile Center (9 N. Washington St.) and Sisters’ Hair Care (19 N. Washington St.).
The $1,000 per month cost would be split 50/50 between the village and Oxford Community Development Authority, according to the approved motion.
However, the OCDA board must still vote on whether or not to split this cost with the village.
Council also voted to authorize village attorney Robert Bunting to begin the process for property acquisition in the northwest quadrant. The village is seeking to purchase property which will allow it to permanently increase the number of parking spaces in the currently parking-deficient northwest quadrant.
