Three generations of a family were lost on April 9 after Orion Township resident Sandra J. Thrasher, along with her daughter Pamela and grandson Sam, died in a car accident in Davison Township.
The accident occurred about 10:29 a.m. on Good Friday, on M-15 north of Bristol Road. A concrete mixer truck, partially loaded with concrete, was heading south on M-15 between Davison and Goodrich when the driver attempted to stop behind a pickup truck turning into a driveway, and skidded into a northbound Chevrolet Venture mini van carrying Thrasher and her family.
The van was driven by Pamela Doyon, 37, of Atlas Township, daughter of Thrasher, 62. The minivan was crushed between a guardrail and the concrete truck, quickly killing Doyon and Thrasher, along with Sam Doyon who would have turned 1 this week. Another son, Max, 2, was transported to Hurley Medical Center in Flint, where he was in critical condition according to Davison Township Police.
The concrete truck, a 2001 Oshkosh owned by Ken’s Ready Mix in Goodrich,, is being inspected by the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, according to Davison Police Chief Larry Hrinik.
Neighbors of the Doyons said Thrasher was close to her daughter and grandsons, and frequently noticed Thrasher’s vehicle parked at the home.
The funeral service is 10 a.m. this Saturday at Clarkston United Methodist Church, 6600 Waldon Road with Rev. Dan Wonderly officiating. Visitation is Friday at the Lewis E. Wint Funeral Home in Clarkston with suggested visiting hours of 3-5, 7-9 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
