Martian boys, girls track dominates invite

It was a sunny day, literally and figuratively, for the Goodrich track program.
The host Martians decisively won both the boys and girls divisions of the Goodrich Invitational Friday, May 7. The girls team finished with 131.5 points, while the boys team tallied 127.
Brandon’s track teams also did well for themselves, particularly the girls team, which finished second with 94 points, one point ahead of North Branch (93). Atherton (65.5) and Brown City (53) rounded out the top five.
The Blackhawk boys finished fifth overall with 44.5 points. North Branch finished second to Goodrich with 86 points, while Montrose placed third (67), and Brown City fourth (51).
Brandon and Goodrich’s girls teams had spirited duels in several events, with competitors for both schools finishing in the top three in five different events:

?800 meter relay: Brandon (Amelia Boot, Danie Ashford, Jamilla Richardson, Mandy Noonan), first, 1:56.10; Goodrich (Amber Beard, Michelle Elliott, Paige Plant, Casey Tubbs), second, 1:56.40.
?1600 meter run: Kayla O’Mara, Goodrich, first (5:21.60); Doan, Brandon, third (5:50.30).
?300 meter low hurdles: Elliott, Goodrich, first (50.43); Paige Plant, second, (52.35); Ashford, Brandon, third (52.56).
‘Discus: Jacqui Cornwell, Goodrich, first (105?6?); Sarah Bond, Brandon, second (104?3?).
Goodrich also placed 1-2 in two different events: the 800 meter run (Kaitlin O’Mara, 2:25.1; Minkler, 2:27.68), and the 3,200 meter run (Kayla O’Mara, 11:29.7; Kaitlin O’Mara, 12:01.6).
