An unexpected delay from Detroit Edison has given drivers a break on the South Street Bridge closure.
Originally scheduled to close on June 10, Village Manager Paul Zelenak said the bridge will not physically close until after the Fourth of July.
‘The utility companies will be doing some work down there, but traffic will still be allowed through until after the Fourth,? Zelenak said.
Posen Construction, the company contracted to rebuild the bridge, says the delay should not affect the scheduled completion date of Aug. 28.
