Timing’s wrong

Everything seems to be under control, but it took a while.
Drivers at the M-24/Flint intersection had been dealing with timing issues at the traffic light for over a week earlier in July.
The malfunction was reported to the Road Commission for Oakland County on July 13, according to Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh.
Narsh was told by Gib Luebeke of the road commission on July 21 that the light was now timed correctly.
Luebeke said there were several problems at the intersection. Crews sent to repair the light found the light working correctly each time they came to the village to check it.
They finally discovered the problem when they checked the electronic component inside the signal box. It was failing intermittently. The latest hardware has replaced the old hardware.
According to Luebeke, all the pedestrian push buttons at the intersection were defective and are to be replaced.
The recent resurfacing of M-24 also caused a problem. Luebeke said the pavement grinding went too deep and cut the wire loop imbedded in the blacktop that signals how long the left turn arrows should remain active. This failure is what eliminated the left turn arrow altogether.
