Goodrich – The Goodrich district has already cut funds in athletics, club sponsors, and other areas, but more cuts are on the way, warns board of education president Michael Thorp.
‘If you think your club, your sport has been cut, they probably have,? said Thorp in Monday’s board meeting. ‘Everybody else is going to be cut too.?
With probable state cuts of $100 to $150 per student looming, the board of education is eyeing more budget reductions.
‘That’s $200,000 to $300,000 out of the budget on top of the $600,000 coming out of fund equity this year,? said Goodrich Superintendent Kim Hart in an interview this week with The Citizen.
‘We’re taking very aggressive action. It’s a very serious situation,? Thorp said.
Nearly everything ‘except the classrooms? will be considered when the school goes back to the budget drawing board in December.
‘We’re looking at reassignment of duties in everything we do.?
With district operational costs of $60,000 to $70,000 per day, reducing the school year from 188 days to 180 or 182 days may be an option.
?(The school year) may be cut back,? said Hart. ‘We’re interested in what people have to say.?

The state revenue consensus board is scheduled to meet Dec. 3.
