Wrestlers oust St. Mary’s, slip to Oxford

The Lake Orion varsity wrestling squad went to a 7-2 record on Dec. 8, defeating Orchard St. Mary’s, 62-18, and falling to the Oxford Wildcats, 37-33.
Against St. Mary’s, Orion’s Brandon Tobin had a pin in the 103-pound match, in 2:39. In the 119-match, A.J. Pratt had a pin in 1:14.
Jake Varilek had a pin in one minute, wrestling for the Dragons at 125; and Billy Bisset had a win at 130 by void. In the 135-match, Jason Bothwell had a pin in 3:49.
Ian Rocheleau took the 140-match for Orion, with a technical fall, 19-5.
The 145-match went to the Dragons? Phillip Antosh, with a pin in 5:49. Gerry Webber had the 152-match for the team, with a pin in 33 seconds.
Lake Orion’s Allen Sigler had a win, 5-4, in the 160-match, while Scott Avery took the 189-match by void.
Shane Tobin took the 215-match, with a pin in 35 seconds.
Against the Wildcats, the winning wrestlers for Lake Orion were Pratt, who took the 119-match, 8-2; and Varilek, taking the 125, 14-4.
Bothwell took the 130, with a pin in 3:32.
Rocheleau was the winner at 140, with a pin in 29 seconds. Webber took 152, with a pin in 55 seconds.
Avery was the winner at 189, 19-12.
Shane Tobin took the 215-match, with a pin in 4:45.
The Dragons travel to the Oakland County tournament at Clarkston High School on Dec. 17-18.
