Hamady comes back in second half to defeat Brandon cagers

The Brandon varsity boys basketball team couldn’t put it together for the full 32 minutes against host Flint Hamady Jan. 4.
As a result, the Blackhawks are still looking for their first win of the season. The Hawks overcame a first-half deficit to soundly defeat the visiting Blackhawks 58-42, leaving Brandon winless on the season at 0-6.
Brandon held the Hawks in check in the first half, taking a 10-6 lead at the end of the first period and a 22-19 lead at halftime.
However, the Hawks made their move in the second half. Three Hamady players scored in double figures as the Hawks scored 39 points in the second half to cruise to the win.
Monroe Murphy led Hamady (3-2) with 15 points, while Dionta Williams added 13 points and Chris Verdun 12.
Adam Howard scored 12 points, including 8-of-10 from the free throw line, to lead the Blackhawks. Andrew Koening chipped in with 10 points, while Brandon Olejnik added seven.
