LO wrestlers best Troy, Troy Athens

The Lake Orion varsity wrestling team had victories over Troy Athens and Troy on Jan. 5 at a quad meet at Rochester High School.
Against Athens, the Dragons won 52-12, with Brendan Tobin pinning Sammy Shamaoun in 3:50; and AJ Pratt defeating Matt Burla at 119, 13-2.
At 125, Orion’s Jake Varilek defeated Matt Shaheen, 9-2. At 130, Jason Bothwell defeated Justin Callahan, 9-1.
Ian Rocheleau won for the Dragons at 140, pinning Justin Kinaia in 57 seconds.
At 152, Gerry Webber was the winner, defeating Andrew Lavoia, 9-1; and Allen Sigler at 160, with a technical fall over Andrew Sak, 15-0. Ben Knight won for Lake Orion at 171, pinning John Handravois in 4:59.
At 189, Scott Avery pinned Dan Martinez in 36 seconds; and at 215, Shane Tobin had a technical fall over Pat Cowan, 15-0.
At 275, Darren Peshl defeated Jimmy Kinaia, 5-4.
Against Troy, the Dragons were the winners, 47-22; with Brendan Tobin taking the 105-match by void, and Varilek winning at 125.
Billy Bissett won for the Dragons at 130, while Rocheleau again took the 140-match. Phil Antosh was the winner at 145, and Webber took the 152-match for the team.
Sigler was again the winner at 160, while Knight took the 171-match. Shane Tobin won for Lake Orion at 215, and Peshl was the winner at 275.
The Dragons are 13-3, 2-0 record in OAA I.
