Freshmen spikers continue winning ways

On Monday, Feb. 21, the OHS freshmen volleyball team defeated the Fenton Tigers in three straight games with scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 25-23. Chelsea Wood had a strong night serving. She served nine straight points with one ace in the second game to help secure the win for her team. Jordan Murray had a great night passing in the back row. She passed 76 percent of the balls that came to her to the setter. Kelsey Oliver had a strong night at the net with 18 positive attacks out of 19. Their record is now 24-5-4 overall and 10-1 in the Flint Metro League. Their last game is Thursday, February 24th v Lapeer East at home.
On Thursday, Feb. 17, the freshmen team defeated Holly in three straight games with scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-7. Irene Miner led her team in serving, passing, and hitting. She served 21 points for her team, had 21 on target passes, and had four positive attacks at the net.
On Wednesday, Feb. 16, the freshmen team suffered its first league defeat of the season. They lost the first two games to the Brandon Blackhawks, 23-25 and 12-25. They did manage to come back in the third game and defeat Brandon 25-7.
Anna Bonfiglio had an amazing night. She served 12 points for a team, had 28 assists, and two kills. Morgan Stefanski also had a strong night. She served six points for her team, had 22 assists, and seven kills.
