Brandon cagers ousted by Clarkston

Brandon’s varsity boys basketball team had a tough assignment during their district quarterfinal game Feb. 28 at Waterford Kettering.
The Blackhawks faced the daunting task of trying to stop the state-ranked Clarkston basketball team. In the end, the Wolves simply had too much firepower, cruising to a 74-40 win against the Blackhawks.
With the loss, the Blackhawks finished the season with a 4-17 record. Clarkston (19-2) advanced to take on Waterford Mott in the district semifinals March 2.
Brandon kept the score respectable in the first quarter, trailing the Wolves by five points, 17-12, at the end of the first quarter. Clarkston began to pull away from the Blackhawks in the second quarter, taking a 33-22 lead into halftime.
The Wolves were never seriously threatened the rest of the way, scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter to finish off the Blackhawks.
Donald Carter stood out for the Blackhawks in defeat, leading all scorers with 17 points. Robbie Clark led the Wolves in scoring with 14 points, while Brad Goodman added 13 points.
