Step by Step School of Dance has your moves

From beginners to the already highly trained, Step by Step School of Dance’s experienced instructors can get any dancer started on the path to success.
Owner and instructor Diane Couture opened Step by Step in 1997. Due to increased enrollment she moved the business last year to a new, bigger location on Baldwin Road, across from Friendship Park.
“We have a state-of-the-art facility,” Couture says. “Our 2,500 square foot dance studio features two large dance floors, and a spacious waiting room and lobby area.”
Step by Step has been set apart from other area dance studios by installing suspended dance floors.
“Our scientifically-designed suspended dance floors have a multi-layered floor system that is designed to protect students’ ankles, knees and hips from possible joint injuries while dancing,” Couture says.
Parental viewing has been enhanced with large viewing windows in the lobby. By doubling their dance space, Couture says Step by Step is now able to offer a wider variety of dance classes and times.
“We’ve added staff, and we offer classes for ages three through adult, six days a week, with day and evening classes available,” she says. “For the convenience of parents, our classes are scheduled around the area school schedules.”
Step by Step School of Dance’s daytime classes begin at 10 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Afternoon classes begin at 4:45 p.m., running Monday through Friday.
Both recreational and competitive dance classes are offered. Classes include: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, Hip-Hop, Acro-Dance (tumbling), Preschool and Kinderdance, as well as All Boys Tap and All Boys Jazz.
Step by Step School of Dance staff receive updated training to remain current in the latest dance styles and trends. Instructors travel to New York, Chicago, Florida, and a variety of other locations to further their training.
Step by Step’s recreational dancers perform in local recitals and specialty shows.
The competitive dancers have received Gold, Hi-Gold and Platinum recognition at both the regional and national levels.
“Each student at Step by Step School of Dance is encouraged and motivated to reach their personal highest potential,” Couture says.
The school offers a full line of Step by Step apparel, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, jackets, dance bags, water bottles, zippered hoodies and more.
Step by Step School of Dance is located at 936 S. Baldwin Road, Suite 105, across from Friendship Park near Clarkston Road.
