Dr. Thomas G. Santarossa has been practicing dentistry for 24 years, with 22 of those in the Clarkston area.
His successful family practice is evident by the large display of photographs of his young patients in the office lobby. He cares for many clients of a nearby pediatrics clinic, but has also built a fine reputation with families throughout the community.
Dr. Santarossa is a local resident and his family includes four boys ranging in age from 15 to six, so he has a special love for family practice.
Dr. Santarossa goes beyond offering standard dental care, however. He stays up to date on the latest advances in cosmetic dental care, and for 15 years has been a leader in restoring implants and with advanced orthodontic services. Patients, therefore, have an advantage in seeking Dr. Santarossa’s services, because there is less need for referrals to other specialists.
Cosmetic dentistry is more than simply appealing to personal vanity. Severe dental problems can affect an individual’s ability to properly chew, and even smiling can be an issue.
‘It kind of ruins their self-esteem,? he said, citing studies that, when meeting someone, most people’s first impressions are hair and teeth.
Dr. Santarossa holds a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry since 1983. That designation requires him to maintain three times the continuing education than someone with a standard license to practice.
Along with his growing expertise, Dr. Santarossa is working to ensure that his practice stays up to date with the latest technology. He is preparing to launch a major office renovation, expanding his space to allow for more modern computers and camera equipment.
Scheduled to be completed within a couple months, the upgrade will allow Dr. Santarossa to provide advanced services such as digital x-rays and digital imaging.
‘This is where dentistry is headed,? he said. ‘We want to continue to provide high quality professional services that are near the cutting edge of the profession.?
Some things will not change. Friendly smiles greet each family member in the pleasant waiting room, as a staff of eight joins with Dr. Santarossa in providing the best in family dental services.
