Joining commissioners from across the country at the Annual National Association of Counties Legislative Conference held in Washington DC, from March 4-8, Oakland County Commissioners serving on Oakland’s Jail Task Force were on a mission.
During the four-day conference Oakland county Commissioner Eric Wilson and other commissioners toured the state-of-the-art Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
Seeking solutions, commissioners were impressed by the correctional facility’s building and the progressive correctional philosophy that guides the operation.
They witnessed the possibilities of what could be incorporated in developing a successful jail overcrowding policy that would reduce the rate of inmates returning back into the correctional system as well as provide savings to the county.
